If you need step-by-step instructions on how to replace a motor coupling, you can refer to this link:

The instructions are for an Estate brand, but it will also apply to your washer. If you have questions, or need assistance with parts, please post back and let me know.

Nice old style machine. I think the motor has a two speed control on those. Low speed does wash and high speed does spin. There is some help in this link.

Washer won't agitate or spin

i believe this is what we call a direct drive system 2 things it could be is the drive coupler located under unit between the transmission and motor .it is a plastic piece with 3 prongs on each side and a black rubber bushing that goes in between each side to connect ..it is somewhat like a shear pin on a tractor it is designed to break when to much pressure... before you check this make sure the unit is making some sort of noise when it is suppose to agitate or spin..you should hear the motor running just won't spin the tub... if you are not hearing anything then i would suspect you have a bad lid switch on the unit... the lid switch is like a safety switch while running if the lid is raised the unit will stop power supply to motor ...you can check the lid switch byby passing it temporarily and see if it works .... one of the 2 may be your issue.... good luck to you

Agitator sounds as if it's stripped

The agitator and drive gearbox are all one part and are not serviceable (sealed), if it is the gearbox the machine is possibly scrap as the part is more expensive than a new machine. Will need further investigation.
Is the spin OK (quiet) the motor rotates one way to agitate and the other way in fast to spin, the belt may be removed at the middle pulley (Below) rotated in each direction to test. try the machine without the belt and listen to motor.

Motor makes loud rattling noise during rinse cycle

could be the coupler and the only way to truely check it is to take the pump, then the motor off. But it seems strange to me that you say it works fine. Is it spinning? usually when the coupler breaks it sounds horrible and usually will not spin but it will drain.I would check the coupler again.

Won't agitate

Ours did this and it was because the bearings had busted. I called a local repair guy and he told me over the phone just by listening to the sound. Maybe you could do the same. I do know this, if it is your bearings, buy a new washer. It's not worth the repair...trust me.
