We have a loud roaring once the agitator begins to move - LOUD!!. Where do I find a manual to dissassemble the machine? It's 3 yrs old - out of warranty and now this!! We can't find any info in the manual on troubleshooting this - any suggestions for a web link for this washer problem?

If you begin dissassembly from the tub down, you wil come to the transmission with the spindle sticking out of it. If you undo the bendable tabs all around the transmission it comes apart in two halves. Careful, its full of oil. The spindle has a plastic gear bolted to the bottom of it. It meshes with other gears in the tranny. It has sheered teath and is making the noise.
I have the same problem, loud plastic squeak/grind when agitating only. I'd like to fix it, but have never taken apart a washing machine.
The advice below sounds good but where do you start with "begin dissassembly from the tub down"....etc. Anyone have a good internet resource with images for disassembling this machine?
Hi everyone im expirancing the same problems. washer works good, just when in spin cycle it seems as if the barrel becomes so uneven that it knocks around. i have tried less clothes, making sure they are even and everything, still continues. the noise has gotten so bad that it sounds like a earthquake and that the washer will tip over from so much banging. i have never taken apart a washer either but am capable with a few instructions

That is a normal sound when the transmission shifts from the last spin cycle to go into the agitate cycle. It should make a loud click sound that does not last longer than a second. There is nothing wrong with your washing machine.
Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. for detailed help with diagrams and step by step instructions click the linkhttp://www.applianceaid.com/washerspinnoise.html
My washing machine fills up fine, but then when its time to start aggitating and spin's it makes like a metal on plastic grinding noise, We would like to try to fix it ourself but have no idea which part it is. Could you please HELP?
The inside of your agitator became worn, and possible strip out the spline that allows the agitator to properly grip the shaft. The loud noise mustly occurs during the spin cycle. If you hear this loud noise your load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it.
Possibly a loose agitator, try lifting the agitator, if it lifts then it is un secure, remove the softener cap and down inside the agitator you will see the fixing bolt,
You will need to lift out the agitator to retrieve the bolt if it has come fully un done, refit the agitator and secure using a socket and long extension bar.
