Brake warning light comes on after car started but no apparent problems: brakes work OK including parking brake, & no impairment to driving. Any ideas? Majdi, if you mean the brake warning light in the dash is on after starting your car, the light is telling you there is a fault/problem with the braking system. You should not continue to drive if the brake warning light is on, as your brakes could fail. You will have to have a good shop check your brakes and diagnose problem and estimate repair. CHECK OR HAVE SOMEONE CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, BE SURE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT ON!

Brake light switch problem may cause the ESP / BAS lights to illuminate.

Common symptoms of a bad
Mercedes brake light switch.

• Car stuck in Park.
• ABS ESP ETS lights come on.
• Can not move the shifter from Park to Drive.
• Brakes Defective Warning on Instrument Cluster
• Car won't shift gears. Stuck in 2nd gear, limp mode.
• Brake lights don't work. (Brake light switch can still be defective even if the brake lights work. Checking the brake light operation is not a good test.)
• ESP, BAS, ABS lights turn on. Car won't shift properly. Stuck in gear.

TEST: To test your new brake light switch: Turn you car off to reset the ABS light. apply the parking brake. and start the car in neutral or park without using the brake. if the problem is the brake light switch... the light will only come on when you press the brake pedal.

If you replaced the brake light switch and the light is still on you should check a few other things such as:

• Fuses and Relays
• ABS pump
• ABS wheel speed sensor
• Brake Fluid Level
• Get an advanced scanner to read trouble codes.

NOTE: ** You may need a MBZ scan tool to reset the error code which was stored in the ECU because of the bad brake light switch.

You may need brake pads or shoes if ok parking brake cable may need adjustment

It can be issue with master cylinder or the problem is there is still some air there in the system,that has to be bleed.Or else the parts replaced are not aligned properly/.I suggest everything back.

It might be in the switch for the parking brake. Try to release it a little more with your hands. It's either in the parking brake system or the regular brake system. Anything ABS has it's own warning light. Have it checked by a tech; it's a safety item, ok?

replace your brake pressure switch on the master cylinder and that should take care of your problem.
