I am trying to reinstall operating system. The instructions say to hit Alt F10 when the acer logo appears, but it goes directly to the Windows logo when I start it up.

BEAT THE F10 BUTTON TO DEATH

I know, it sounds mean, but you have to press it fast and ALOT to get this to actually work.
