Degrading connection My cybercafe has got a D-LINK Xtreme N DIR-655 router hooked up to 8 computers. when i first started using it everything was fine, 5 bars connection. But after a couple of weeks it began to drop. At this point My computers are getting between 1 - 3 bars. distance - less than 20 ft. If that's the case I will suggest you to reset and reconfigure the router again and try using a different channel like channel 1-6 or 11 then dont forget to enable wireless security to make the connection much stable, then after that if still low signal you can get a wireless range expander that will repeat the signal of your router or you can get a new router.
Sorry for the late reaply, hope that helps..

Reinstalling router

If it's not a hardware problem and you have a phone signal then the problem is with ISP. Check the 192 page to find the router status and contact the ISP to make a new connection for you.

Problem with DIR 655

On the laptops, check that your Internet is set to use "Private" networks as opposed to "Public". Private networks allow others to see you and you to see others on the network, once you've entered the proper pass phrase as set up in the router's software. Your Manual for the router has the instructions you need to complete this process.

Setup DIR-655 w/ Westell 6100 USB DSL Modem

First check if your computer can get on the modem with an Ethernet ( This is to find out if your router will work with your modem) If you cannot get on give your ISP a call to have them configure the modem for Ethernet connection. If you do get on then connect the router to the modem and your computer to the router. You can run the CD for the router or do the connection manually.
