I get a black box in the middle of my picture when I change channels and sometimes just out of the blue

Closed Caption function to that channel you select is ON. Make it OFF, when you are in that channel which displays this black box. It will be best to reset the TV to its factory settings first, and then re-tune it. for more details, refer its user manual.

Check your close caption setting in the menu (press the "CC" button on your remote)

what you are experiencing is call closed caption text.
All you need to do is turn off closed caption.
Sometimes there is a CC button on the remote and other times
you will have to use the menu options to find it.
That should take care of the issue,

Change the box it will solve the problem.

Someone has accidentally turned the Close Caption Text mode on. Go into your menu locate the closed caption section and just navigate to turn it off and that's it.... sometimes the remote may have it on there labeled CC.

Try and turn off the closed captioning. I had the same problem and it turned out that the closed captioning was on t1 instead of OFF. Hope this helps!!!!

You have your TV in the "Teletext" mode. Go into the TV menu and select the closed-captioning menu and turn off the text function. What you are seeing is the result of the TV's captioning circuit latching onto a false text pilot signal and then throwing up the black box on the screen.

Try this:

In the menu go to CC and set the TV to CC1 as this is a text box appearing for captions. Hope this works!

Is the blue line running straight across the middle of your screen? If so its a vertical deflection problem. Possible bad Vertical output IC
