Is it possibly overheating. Tv's like humans need a rest period. If the Tv is always on, it could be overheating. I know some laptops will auto-shut off because overheating. If it is close to a wall, try moving it away to see if that helps. Also, make sure it is not near any liquid source as this may cause short outs...hope this helps.. best of luck

A line on an LCD screen can be cause by the screen itself going bad or the T-con board. The T-con board the attached to the screen on the backside and covered by a heatshield. If you get teh part number from it you can find it online from one of the many retails that might have it. Like www.interliquidparts.com

Have a sony bravia kdl-52v4100 and a red line keeps popping up on right side. it will show for a bit than go away but will come back again???

Sony bravia KDL 40s4100 vertical lines on left
LOD (lines of death) are a known service issue with the Sony bravia line of TV's contact Sony and cross your fingers. Wish I had better news for you. I had a 52w4100 and Sony arranged me with a service center to get it taken care of.

The last Sony LCD set I had with a problem a bit like this had a bad LCD drive board. This is the board at the top of the set--that connects between the LCD panel and the main board.

Vertical line on teh left side of the screen
It definately looks like a mechanical defect with the screen. If you see the line when the set is shut off this means that the screen may have a crack in it, or there is a defect in the substrate.

This type of fault is fixed by replacing the screen assembly. The cost of this would not be worth it.
