Does the set shut off. Does the red led on the front blink. If it does count the number of blinks. This a failure code. Is the lamp still lit. Look in back .Let me know.
I have the same problem with mine. I can recreate the problem by stopping the small fan on the right side by the inputs. I'm not sure if its a heat problem or not. I already bought a new Sony Bravia but will continue to tinker with this for awhile.
You have a safety cut off, possible that some circuits are thermally running away. could be idtentifed by elimination cooling but unless you are familiar with electronics do not attempt.check on Sony authorised service but keep this in mind as well ask for a wuote before the work is done.
U restart the tv,u hear alots of clicking? That mean the Ballast is dead or have problems, that why ur picture lamp not sustaning the picture.Replacing the Ballast might or will sustance the picture.
not if it keeps repeating the same cycle over and over..it cost 300 once and if you have it fixed again thats another 300 and if it happens again so on and so on....
Sounds like you have a bad green picture tube that has failed. To check this out; remove front speaker grill, remove small panel, you will see three CRT's (pictue tubes) sticking down, remove the little board on the middle tube then restore power. If TV stays on more then likely the CRT is bad but not always the driver on board could also be bad, check voltages.
blinking light indcate a processor shutdown.. the processor has detected a problem in safety circuits and shut down the set. common problem are flyback and horizotal ouptut transistor. the processor has a error log file. technicians can plug a specail computer and read those to determine problem
