PSS26PSTA Freezer seems to be freezing ok but the refridgeratore won't hold the temp any more - seeting is at 37 - reccomended, however, won;t register cooler than 40. Typically at 41 or 42. What could the problem be and isa it something I could repair or correct myself.

Hi! I am having this exact problem also. The best answer I have been able to discover is that it is related to the freezing up of the internal water tube that drains the fridge compartment into the freezer section. In addition, a pool of water freezes on the interior floor of my freezer and has to be manually chipped up and removed. I did try to unload the freezer and defrost it thoroughly, but it still happens and has to be chipped each week. I am still seeking a solution, but at least I can make the chiming stop by locking the temperature via the button on the front panel. Best wishes. If you discover a better or final soln, please post. Your thermostat is faulty. The vegetables cannot freeze at 37 degrees. It will not freeze until it's at 32 degrees. The sensor is wrong as it is impossible to freeze anywhere above 32.

my idea is the thermostat is bad. but won,t both of them be bad.

Forget the warranty - it is only for the compressor and that is usually five years. Did you check for freezer temp - wet cubes indicates too warm up there. Water dispenser lines may be clogged.

If low temps you may have low refrigerant or a defrost mechanism not working - if not working there should be ice buildup on line entering the evaporator in back of compartment.

If you have heavy frost build up on the back wall of your freezer you have a defrost problem. One of three things. Defrost timer, Defrost T-stat or Defrost heater. Usually problem is with the T-stat. If no frost make sure the evap fan is blowing. You should be able to hear a fan noise when opening freezer. If no fan noise replace evap fan which is located half way up behind freezer wall. check the damper door that lets cold air from freezer to refrigerator and make sure theres no ice build up that can prohibit damper door from opening and closing its probably stuck open from ice build up

the alarm light is conected threw to the thermostat and is disighned to worn you if the freezer has wormed up obove freezing tepteratures. it is on and the freezer is still working ok then there is a fault in the control. Please check the temperature using ice creem as you gage if the freezer holds icecream to a hard consistancy then the freezer is working good . ice cream hardens at around -10 f anything wormer and its soft . you could have the control replased but the standard replacement controls dont have the temp alarm options. hope this helped. p/s if you are living in a worm climate enshure the freezer has adiquit air cerculation oround the cabinet.
