Battery problem of hp dv6000

I got hp dv6000 recently ..but its battery life fas reduced to 10 minutes ....thus is it required to change the battery or else there is a solution to it ...

    Same problem....very short battery life even on power saver mode. I bought a used Compaq with same battery setup but no problems...I feel it may be a software issue

    My battery life is at approx. 5minutes. This is my second battery in a lap top less than 2 years old because of this problem. Is there a fix???

The battery has a limited life span, and it sounds as though this one has reached its end. My own battery did the same thing. Though it had never been used, I bought it with the laptop as an extra, and after using for less than two months, it gives me no time at all now. Replacing the battery is your only option.

My Hp dv6000 laptop battery is not working?

Your battery is likely dead. Batteries over time lose their charge and eventually fail completely. I had a DV9000 laptop and after about a year or so it would report the battery was fully charged but it would only last 15 or so minutes before dying completely. Yours has probably met this fate.

Also, the HP DV6000 and DV9000 series of laptops (some batches) had defective batteries out of the box that there was a wide spread recall on (although HP did not publicize this much unfortunately so many that actually were affected never was notified of it, you might want to check HP's website to see if your products SKU was part of the recall.

But if your system is out of warranty they probably won't honor the recall at this point.

Hi, It sounds like the battery has come to the end of its life and you will need to replace it.

Most laptop batteries in my opinion only last 18months to 2 years before they need replacement, this is common to most all laptops.

Compaq Presario v2000 notebook reduced battery life
you may try:
1) check the battery alarm at windows power managment, to set 5-10% alarm level.
2) discharge the battery to the empty then charge longer time, you need monitoring how long it charged (see charge lights change), need to change new one if charging time much less then before(less then 10-20 minutes)..
3) plug-in AC adapter monitoring charging current,
this step you need a current meter to make a series connection in the circuite, the battery is over life cycle if the current less then 500mA.

I'm not sure of your charging regiem but it is possible that you hav not let the batteries become disscharged before they back on the charger, short cycling particular batteries gives them a memory and reduces their life significantly. Most rechargeable batteries have a life of so many cycles, just say its 100 cycles. If you put on charge when battery is only down to 80% and charge it up this counts as 1 cycle. Therefore your battery life would be reduced to 20% of what its capable of. This is only true if short cycling the chargeing of the battery is frequent. Not knowing exactly what your charging habits are or the age of them makes it a guess from me. It otherwise might be a fault in your charging circuit which would require specialist diagnosis.
