Is kodak digital science 3520DP a sorting scanner

I was wondering if kodak 3520DP can sort file automatically by its associated software, diagnostic software. I do find this type of scanner can add message and serial number on the document. However I was wondering if it can "read" text on the document.

I have tons of documents that have an individual ID number, such 129LCC, 131KKC on the right corner of the document. Is that possible for the scanner to automatically sort files after scanning. Any solutions, please feel free to get me back at [email protected] Thank you very much

Thank you very much for your quick response. It looks to me that the scanner do can sort files by its associated or additional software after scanning.

Kodak digital science 3520DP scanner come with optional document printer and associated software of diagnostic software. Is that possible to capture text on the documents as you mentioned? or still need additional software, such as OCR (optical character recognition) to capture text ?

Would you please give me a little bit more suggestions on how to capture text ? and which software is more better to do it easily? Thank you very much

Scanning multiple pages sometimes (quite oftern actually) results in an error alert acompanied by a 4 digit number. I can not scan again beyond this error without rebooting my scanner. I don't lose what has been scanned up to this point. I just accept these documents, close scanner and start again. Sometimes I will have a document with hundreds of pages and can not close it as I need all of the pages in one batch...I have to delete what has been scanned, reboot and start over!! lots of wasted effort. What is the answer

The Kodak 3500 scanner series is probably the best scanner ever made, but NO, it doesn't read anything! Think of it as a digital camera. It only takes pictures. All OCR, ICR, BAR Code, etc. has to be read by software. Your software looks at the images and pull any info that it has been designed to detect off of that image. Some older scanners had built in bar code and patch code reading, but more and more, the software now does it, usually in conjunction with a Kofax card in the PC.

I dont think any scanner can do that. The output is raster image and you need to use specific software to 'read' the individual ID number. The location of the ID must be same in all the documents.

After scanning the documents, using additional software, the ID can be captured and files renamed. It can be sorted later.

KOdak 2500 D -- cannot find target device

Go to Kodak's website and download the scan verification tool (the SVT), and see what it tells you. I use the 2500D with an Adaptec 2940 SCSI controller, and a 50-50 pin SCSI Cable.  I use the twain driver from Kodak's website and paperport 9 software.  This combination seems to work.
