Kodak 3520D scanner Front Scan Mod gain issue

I have a Kodak 3520D scanner that gives a black, blotchy image on half of the front image when scanning. Calibration gives an error saying "Front Scan Mod gain exceeds max: 0xbe, 0xc0" I have tested the scan module in another unit and it calibrates and works fine. What can I test next or what needs replacing?

I have already checked lamps. I've replaced just about everything. I've narrowed the problem down to something on the main processing board. Unfortunately as this is a "scavenge to repair" job, I'm unable to proceed as I don't have any of those to replace it with.

are you sure you have checked the correct scan module in another scanner. The Front scan module is in the rear of the scanner.

I have 6 identical new PC's running Windows XP SP3 with Kodak i1210 scanners. 4 of them are running fine and scanning fine. The two giving me an issue are scanning fine as well but they are scanning...

Please check if the disk where you are saving has enough space. Defrag the drive for better results. If you are connecting the scanners trough an USB cable, try replacing them. Also check if the file format is same. If you have chosen to scan BMP or TIFF uncompressed or Color, the file size may be too big. I presume the other two PCs are free of virus.

When i scan a letter 2 page is scanned:letter and blank page

You may be set for front & back (duplex) scanning. Change the setting for front only or simplex. This could be done with check/uncheck boxes, a drop-down menu, or a keyboard shortcut. I believe the standard Kodak settings are via check boxes.
This model is also capable of putting out color & bitonal (black&white) images simultaniously. If that's the case the pages should be separate image files. Uncheck either color or bitonal depending on which you want.

On a kodak 5100 printer how do I scan a document to the computer to use ss an attachment for E Mail?

Thank you for allowing me to assist you in this question. Below is some basic information on how to scan with this printer. The Kodak Home Center software will save the file into a directory into your computer and you can use your email program to attach that file into your emails.

To scan to a file
1 Set the Default scan destination to File with the Kodak Home Center software.
2 Place your original face down in the right front corner of the scanner glass.
3 Press Scan.
4 Press Start. The original is scanned and saved to a file on your computer according to the scan settings in the Kodak Home Center software.
To scan to an application
1 Set the Default scan destination to Application with the Kodak Home Center software.
2 Place your original face down in the right front corner of the scanner glass.
3 Press Scan.
4 Press Start. The original is scanned into Kodak Home Center where you can open it with the application of your choice.

Kodak i40 Front loading scan

Hi,

Try downloading the latest Firmware for the Kodak i40 Scanner at the following Kodak.com page: http://graphics.kodak.com/docimaging/US/en/Products/Document_Scanners/Desktop/i40_Scanner/Support/Drivers_And_Downloads/i30_and_i40_Scanner_Firmware/index.htm

Follow the instructions carefully, and make sure that the scanner and the PC DO NOT turn off while doing the Firmware update. I recomend connecting both to a UPS with a known good battery while doing this upgrade.

This should install the latest features including the one that enables front feed.
