Whirlpool gold dishwasher will turn on but not clean dishes

If it looks like the water is circulating then it's possible that soap build up can cause cleaning problems. Try taking a cereal bowl and filling it with an 8 oz bottle of apple cider vinegar (you want apple cider for the citric acid and you want to put in a bowl because the 1st thing a dishwasher does is drain) then put the bowl on the lower rack and wash nothing but the bowl of vinegar. We have found that the new non phosphate soap is also causing problems we have found that Finish tablets work very well and since they are pre-packaged then there is no risk of too much soap causing problems. If that doesn't help then it's possible that the motor is not turning the spray arm at a high enough speed to circulate the water. Hope this helps.

Kemore 17509 wont clean glasses are always dirty and some bowls as well. we pre clean dishes before they go in dishwasher

There can be a multitude of causes to a dishwasher not cleaning well. First, check your wash arms - make sure the holes or nozzels are clear (not blocked), and make sure they are free to turn. Make sure you are not over-loading the dishwasher and stacking bowls on top of bowls. Next is to check to see if enough water is going into the DishWasher (DW). This varies with different models, so it's hard to tell you how much is enough. Also, what kind of detergent are you using? We find that powders seem to work better than liquids and gels , and tablets sold by Finish Corporation and Cascade work better than powders. Next thing to check is to make sure the heater is working to heat the water during the wash cycle. (Listen for the soap dish to open, then open the door 10 or 15 minutes later and see if the water is hot.) If your dishwasher has a removable filter, you need to take that out and clean it at least once a month. And finally, if your dishwasher is all encrusted with calcium and hard-water deposits, you probably need to run a dishwasher cleaner in the machine. (Use Dishwasher Magic, or Finish Corp's Dishwasher cleaner, or Glisten, or even Lemi-Shine detergent-booster powder or their dishwasher cleaner.
Hope this helps!

Dishwasher deposits dirt on dishes. Grit, small particles.

I have the same problem. We cleaned the dishwasher out because the grit was coming from the dishwasher...however, we still have dirt/grit in our dishes, but a lot less. How do we get rid of this all together?

Calcium (white) buildup on wiring in bottom of my Whirlpool dishwasher...how can I remove this?

There a few good products to clean this. Purchase one of the following, you can find them at the store near the dishwasher detergents. I am listing in order of my preference. Follow the instructions on the package, but basically run a cycle with no dishes and the cleaner. A home remedy that works but not as well is to put a bowl of vinegar upright in the lower rack. Run through a normal cycle and the vinegar will wash out and clean the calcium away. You may need to do this a couple times.

- Lemi Shine

- Finish dishwasher cleaner

- Glisten

- Glass Magic

Hi, it sounds like your dishwasher is plugged up with soap deposits, and/or Calcium deposits.
In an empty dishwasher, put 2 cereal/soup bowls full of vinegar on bottom shelf, and run your dishwasher.
This should clean out all the deposits.
I do this about once every six weeks as our water is very hard.

Top shelf dishes are not washed

possibly low water pressure...

racks might be in backwards if it's an older model with wheels on shelf system... rubber bumpers should face out...

could be a blockage in the upper sprayer arm... or the upper arm had come off and was remounted in a position that doesn't line up with the jet of water from below...

could be bad loading technique... sounds simple enough but you should never put large bowls or pots that lay horizontally on the lower rack because it really screws up the cleaning effectiveness. Large items should always go on the top rack or be washed by hand if they don't fit on the top rack.

Mold growing on dishes

Recommend that you run another cycle with no DW soap aded, waiting until the dishwasher has filled with hot water and begins to do the first wash cycle. Then add 1/2 cup of bleach to the water and close the door. Allow the cycle to finish. Run it normally with a standard load of dirty dishes. Note: These high efficiency dishwashers count on the "dirt" of the dirty dishes to help wash/clean the dishes. Recommend you not rinse/wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

Watch for any occurrence of the black dots and repeat the bleach treatment.
