We have a Brother typewriter model GX - 6750. It is not typing clearly, parts of the letters are not coming through. We have changed the ribbon, just in case this was the problem but it helped only for a while. The typewriter was only bought last year.

Removed and reinstall the Daisywheel. Inspect the ribbon and lift-off tape to eliminate interfering with Daisywheel spinning. Make certain the daisywheel has no bent spokes. Type slowly while carefully watching the hammer come to rest after printing. If you see the hammer moving towards the paper after a print cycle, the hammer is probably causing the Daisywheel to lose homing and will need to retimed or have the hammer cams assembly replaced.
Another problem is the distance fom the wheel to the platten or the setting of the hammer. Some have setting for which to use forms rather than plain paper. The hammer is set back for this and there is an adjuster lever either in the vicinity of the hammer or for platten spacing.
make sure you power on the typewriter and space bar carrier until middle of bar. flip open cover and put ribbon in rear end first then push front to lock. i have to then turn orange knob on top of ribbon cassette in direction that arrow points just to tighten ribbon and that usually will lock the ribbon cartridge if it lock with first push. also, the ribbon itself goes in front of the 2 guides that stick up higher than the rest. hope this helps. if not you can look at brother website under that model and look at manual. it shows you how.
