Make sure you are using the right discs i think samsung uses only - dvd's- menu will not work if rw disc in in because they can be played w/out being finilized

Hi Just Try This if you want transfer my videos from CAM to PC then you have to Finalize the disk first of all fallow this setup Connect the AC
Adaptor to the digital video camera.
Plug the AC adapter into a working wall outlet.
Turn on the digital video camera.
Press the SETUP button.
Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button
to select DISC SET.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button
to select FINALIZE.
Press the ENTER button.
If still images are recorded on the disc, press the UP
ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select PHOTO MOVIE CREATE.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button
to select EXECUTE.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button
to select YES.
Press the ENTER button.
When the finalizing completion message appears,
press the SETUP button
You press the menu button on the inside whenn you flip the screen out you press "Menu" button, then you will see 'Disk Operations' your going to scroll down until you get to 'Finalize' then your going to click it and keep it still until it says you can take the disk out!

Here is how to finalize a disk in your camcorder.
1) Plug in the power adapter, and put in the disk you want to finalize.
2) Press the function button. If your disk was recorded in VR mode, then go to step 3. If not, go to step 4.
3) Scroll right to get to menu.
4) Scroll down to get to Disk Functions.
5) Scroll down again to get to Finalize.
6) Scroll down again to Yes.
7) Press the function button.
8) Wait until it's done, then you can play your disk in a DVD player.
Remember, (very important). Don't touch or bump it while it's finalizing a disk. If you disturb it, you can mess up your disk.

The manual gives you incorrect info. To FINALIZE disk: 1. Press [HOME] button; 2. select [SETUP]. 3. Scroll down to DVD ICON and SELECT 4. Select [FINALIZE]

If you have the mativa program you can hook the camera directly to the computer and not need to finalize the disk,
I checked the book and the steps to finalize are,
(1) DIAL ON SETUP AND TURN ON CAMERA
PRESS THE ARROW RIGHT ON THE CONTROL BUTTON THIS PUTS IN ON FINALIZE
PRESS ARROW UP ONCE, THIS IS THE OK BUTTON
PRESS CENTER OF CONTROL PUTTON
SET ON STABLE SURFACE AND MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS CHARGED, OR CAMERA PLUGGED IN,
PRESS CENTER BUTTON AGAIN

to finalize the disk for enabling discs to be played on other devices.
Connect this unit to the AC adaptor. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery.
Rotate the mode dial to select the arrow.
Press the MENU button, then select SETUP, FINALIZE, YES and press the joystick. Select whether or not to create a top menu, then press the joystick. When the confirmation message appears, select YES then press the joystick.

It comes that Disk not being recognized. I had the same camera before. You need to use good quality CDRs or CD-RWs. Usually Sony Mavica disks best with that camera. Maybe you cannot find Mavica in market then go for Sony, Philips, Imation miniCDR/W. also keep the lens of the internal CD writer clean. If you need further assistance please post your question
Ok, Guest @ solution #1 and #3 solved this for me.
Step 1. remove battery pack.
Step 2. Plug in to outlet.
Step 3. Insert desired disc.
Step 4. Toggle down on the "mode" lever for "Play-back" mode.
Step 5. Press "function"
Step 6. Scroll to and select "menu"
Step 7. Scroll to and select "disc options"
Step 8. Scroll to and select "Finalize"
Step 9. Scroll to and select "Yes"
Follow prompts from there.
This worked for me.
