I have a new imac and pixma mx310 printer. I have set it up, run the program, registered the printer, and now am having difficulty printing a document. The imac does not recognize the printer. I have read the manual and can't figure out what I have done wrong. HELP!!!

select page setup under file menu...select machine's name in "Format for". This should solve both questions.

Adkinsdave, keep in mind that often having someone remotely connect to your computer with you and perform this task is easier than trying to walk you through steps and potentially missing a step. With that being said, the Airport Express was meant to make setting up a WiFi network in your own home a breeze.
We need to first determine if your Canon PIXMA MX310 has a Mac driver. According to the Downloads page at Canon.com, there are several Mac drivers available for OS X, 10.5 and 10.6: usa.canon.com - simply choose your OS on the pulldown from that website. Once your computer has the driver it needs to communicate with the printer, you can use your Airport Express to connect to the printer.
Obviously, make sure the printer is turned on and once you go through the Airport Express connect guide you should be printing in no time.

Printer Driver Settings:

   * In Windows, select DL Env. or Comm. Env. #10 in Page Size.
   
3. * In Macintosh, select DL Envelope or #10 Envelope in Paper Size.
   
4. Select Landscape in Orientation.
   

The serial number is located inside the maching, behind the tape attached to the cartridge carrier. When the cartridges are all the way to the left side (position for changing cartridges), the serial number is visible at the center-right position. Open the maching as if you were going to change cartridges.

Go to file menu, select print, and then click properties within the program that you are trying to printer from. There should be speed/quality settings here. It really depends on your printers drivers. But the high the print speed the lower the print quality. Other than that there is no way to have a faster printer without sacrificing quality except to buy a new printer. Laser printers are by far the fastest printers.

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Had a new hard drive installed and need to re-install Canon Pixma Mx 310 all in one back in my Mac

I fixed it by reinstalling the printer software and downloading the driver for the scanner. Worked like a charm!
