My notebook will not project on my LCD screen--I try fxn F8 but I just get a black screen on the notebook and I have no choice to project on a screen....?

Desktop Windows Manager, is the one who's giving the fancy effect on your screen. try to boot your computer under safe mode by pressing F8 upon reboot. by then, you can only access the system and check the program status.
If you have an external monitor, try connecting the laptop to it, then toggle FN+F8 to project display from lalaptop to external monitor.
If the external monitor does not have a display aswell (totally blank) , then its a problem with the video card.
You can also run an LCD Bist test by turning off the system , then while the system is turned off press D + power , If you dont hear a beep but no display at all, then its an LCD problem.

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.
Try to hit twice the button that switch the LCD(screen) to the project.It has an icon of a screen on it(on other Laptops its is F5 or F8.If it doesnt work open and remove the Ram.and slot the back properly after and reboot your Laptop.
The invertor lamp has gone bad, so you would need to replace the LCD screen. there is nothing else you can do. try to connect an external monitor adn then press Fn + F8 to switch the video to the external monitor. if the image on the external monitor is fine then its the lcd. if the external monitor has the same image then motherboard problem. you can also try Fn + Up arrow key to increase the brightness.
I see. Try to restore your system to a day the last time your toggle is working. If that did not work try to reinstall your drivers. specifically for your video card and the utility for your keyboard shortcuts.
