My 10 cf Magic Chef Chest Freezer Model# MCCF10WMD just stopped getting cold. The compressor kicks in for about 5 sec. every halfhour or so. Is it the compressor or the relay? I thought it might be the relay but I cannot find a replacment part so I was suggested a "Hard Start." Installing might not be as straight forward as I hopped. Suggestions?

I have a small magic chef freezer that opens from the top. I has about 3 or 4 cu. ft. of freezer space. Lately a buzzer has been going off every 15 or 20 minutes. It buzzes for about 5-10 seconds and then...

With the time as the compressor gets old the buzzing will increased, its not a bid deal, just set the thermostat to 1 during the winter, saves you energy and give the compressor more time to rest.

My Magic Chef chest freezer stopped cooling, slowly, over two weeks. I emptied, unplugged, defrosted, cleaned coils, and powered up again. Red light is on, won't cool. Guessing freon or compressor...

Sounds like slow Freon leak. You might get an estimate over the phone before calling a technician, but I would think a 3-year old box is worth repairing. If the estimate is close to the replacement cost, that might not be the case.

Freezer just stopped getting cold

Please observe these : - Compressor current draw. - Thermostat setting
If your Freezer current draw is very low than its to be, your compressor is damage and need replacement.

My Magic Chef 5.5 cubic chest freezer with manual defrost, just quit working. It was a year old this March and it stopped working this July. The power light is on, but run light is not. We unplugged for 5...

Feel compressor to see if running and warm. If not, most likely thermostat control is bad. If it is running, determine if it runs continuously or if it's clicking on and off every couple minutes. If clicking on and off, replace overload and relay that plugs into side of compressor. If running continuously, there is probably a freon leak on blockage. Replace freezer in latter scenario
