If you mean the jack where your Laptop's Dc adapter Plug is plugged in, you can fix it. The jack is soldered on the motherboard and the problem happens when the soldered contact points are loosen or is having problem, it can be easily fixed. But the laptop must be disassembled to do this. You need to have soldering skills, otherwise it'd be difficult to fix it. The power jack looks like this;
It'll be fitted like this on the motherboard after you've disassembled the system;
You can simply get it done from an electronic repairing shop or from a service center. It's best if you know how to use soldering iron. If the jack is bad, you can replace it, it can be purchased from any computer store or computer repairing center.
If you have problem, let me know.
Good luck.

By trying another power adapter I found out that the jack itself is damaged (inside), not the receptacle on the motherboard. I cannot push it all the way through.
Well look inside the Jack very carefully. If anything is stuck inside, you can clear it with a tweezer. If the pin is twisted, it's would be difficult to straightened. But before you do anything with it, take a brush, soak it with Alcohol/acetone/spirit and clean the metal pin and the outer (surrounding) contact points. Both the inner and outer metal interfaces work as terminals (+ve and -ve). You can use a screw driver if any foreign particles or rust is accumulated.
If cleaning isn't possible I would suggest you to get another replacement. You'll need to use soldering iron to fix it. Without disassembling the laptop, it's not possible to replace the jack.
Good luck.

You get it wrong.
It is not the receptacle on the motherboard, but the power adapter jack which is damaged. There is something inside which is preventing the jack to go all the way on the receptacle.
