You may not have needed to buy a new battery, depending on the age of the battery and the year of the vehicle. I have owned these mini-vans for over ten years now and one problem they seem to have is build up under the positive battery post. This is usually an oxide of some kind building up on the battery post from the battery acid and then isolating the battery cable end from making contact with the post. All I've ever had to do is clean the battery post and cable end and tighten it back up and it works fine. Battery post treated washers (red and green) help this as well as putting battery terminal grease on the cable end once installed to keep corrosion from building up again.

If you have a side post battery situation you'll need to take the battery cable off the battery and clean up the bolt with a wire brush and inside the battery connection with a small wire brush kind of like a bottle brush since the threads are not very big. After cleaning apply a "thin" coat of dielectric grease. This grease is conductive and will give a better contact and keep corrosion away.

F150 Ford 2011 no crank after earlier in day started ok and parked at home.

Sounds like a dead cell in the battery. Fully charge it with an external charger with it disconnected from vehicle. Take it to a parts store to have it checked with the load system.

You need to have the factory security system scanned, it is most likely locking you out due to a fault.

You should probably have your ignition switch changed. I replaced the main relay and the fuel pump, then ignition switch. Then had to have my transmission rebuilt.

Battery died, charged it took it for a drive half way back home dashboard lights went out heater also went out van almost died, when we finally stoped to park turned it off then decided to try again and...

Take your battery in for testing after charging it. Then, to avoid pulling the Alternator for nothing, drive to a local Autozone, Advance, or Oeilys and ask them to check your charging system on the Van.
Consider taking an extra battery if you have one to fit, so you can get back home after the test. Run the van with the charger connected until you get good heat, then reduce the blower fan speed to minimum. Then disconnect charger.
If you are still stuck on the road, jumpstart the van until it is warm, using the jump car to charge the battery so you can go home and try again. Just leave the battery jumpers connected to the struggling van battery a few minutes so the old battery has a chance to charge.

The 12 volt battery(LUCAS 065/3) on my FORD FIESTA 1100cc is 4 years old, in that time i have only driven 1,600 miles as my journeys are usually very local. I make sure i use the car twice a week to keep...

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips -  so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.

Battery runs down when it's parked, any idea?

Hi!!

Batteries over time loose capacity to hold charge. You can jump start the vehicle in the morning and run around all day, but the next morning it won't have enough charge to start up.

Take vehicle to an AutoZone to have charging system and battery checked up at no charge. There are other autopart stores that also offer this free service to their customers..

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck!

Sound like an alternator problem or loose connection on the charging system....theyre is a simple test you can do.....charge up the battery, start engine...mesure with an voltmeter betwen the baterie post it should read 13 -14 volt if not check for loose or coroded main wire and connector, blown charging system fuse....if you dont see anything then the alternator is most likely the cause
