well six of ten is right, but frying scot ??17 volts ?? well frying scott as its obvious you know nothing about motor vehicles i suggest you refrain from answering any questions.......the only way to test a battery is with a drop tester where the reserve amperage is tested as without this all your silly gismos are a waste of time.yes a 12v battery should do this or that but in pratice its not always right.battery can read from 11v to 13v and be perfectly ok.Correct way to test a battery is use a heavy discharge tester ,secondly a heavy discharge induction amp meter is placed on the cable and engine cranked with main coil lead out or coil pack supply disconnected so that engine will not start and the amperage checked in case windings on starter motor are shorting through causing motor to draw too much current. So i would suggest you go to college and study for six years and try to pass a motor vehicle technicians course ,yes technicians course and not motor mechanics or national craftmans .But in all honesty studying anything to do with motor vehicles in this day and age is a waste of time in the uk as no protection is available unlike here in spain where you cant evan fit spot lights without somebody with my qualifications signing a piece of paper and charging for it trust me on this one,but UK ??? study mechanical engineering thats recognised ---car mechanics, garages dont want them, well not the likes of myself as i know more than the owner which means they dont want to be shown up as not knowing -or paying skilled wages.Unlike spain with paperwork where the legislation is different and i can charge for signing a piece of paper.VIVA ESPAñA

i would say your F250 has a {short circuit}going by all the facts you tell me there has to be a loose or faulty electrical connection in the ignition circuit.get it rechecked also check the main earth strap it could be broke/corroded.also check the main voltage regulator as this can cause this problem.hope this helps.adrian
