Hey Joseph,
the life span of an engine can be, and is, determined by many things..after reading a few of these items, you will see there is no specific number of hours (or average either).
1. The quality of the original parts/pieces and the assembly thereof.
2. The owner's maintenance (or lack thereof) of the engine (did you regularly change the oil/filter. Install a new air filter. Install a new spark plug..?)
3. How hard and often the engine is ran with low/no maintenance.
4. Was the engine ran over the governor's regulated RPM?
These are a few of the issues that effect the life span.....now you see why its impossible to know..or even guess at a life span.
The average age of a three year old starter would be, well, three years old. But, if you're actually asking how long it should last, probably at least 10 years, with no unusual abuse and average mileage driven. There are lots of factors that can shorten the life span of any electrical component, with water being the main culprit.
The lifetime of the phone is probably unimportant. That is, the phone will last many many years if you take care of it (like most electronic devices). What is important is how long will the battery last under normal circumstances before you need to replace it. I would say that with regular use, you should expect more than one year, to almost two years of use before the battery starts to not hold a charge and will require replacement.
Yes it can happen after a reinstall.. You will need to go into the computer ie take the back off. Pull the modem out and put it back in in another slot exact to the one you pulled it out of. Try it again it will no doubt read this time.. It can only be done this way if you try to manually install a moderm it will load the standard one NOT your Modem. Goodluck!
