Hi! I had the same problem before when writing files to disc. What i did was to lower down the speed ex. from 16x to min or from 4x or 8x to 16. That should also fix your problem.

Whenever I try to burn a cd in my DVD ram a message shows up saying it is not accessible, Incorrect function.? What do I do? ive tried to disable and enable the drive then reboot the sys., still the same...

try running the fix-tool provided by Microsoft on this web page

http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems

If that fails then my suspicion is that either
1) the drive has failed
or more likely
2) because you don't have any DVD burning software, windows can't understand the blank DVD-RW disk. Thas basic packet-burning software installed with XP CANNOT write to DVD disks.

However there is a bit more to it than that - the Microsoft CD burning software (which is a cut down Roxio product) cannot co-exist with any other packet burning software (e.g. DLA, In-CD or simuilar) so if one of those is installed you have to DISABLE the MS CD burning capability on the drive settings tab. Even worse, Internet Explorer 8 is not compatible with DLA - which is included in quite a few CD/DVD suites including many of the later Roxio versions

My advice would be
1) un-install any CD or DVD burning software on the machine
2) disable the MS CD burning
3) run that Microsoft patch
4) Install some DVD burning software but DON'T install the packet writing software part of it

Note that after installing that patch you may also have to reinstall any DVD playing software

My CD drive won't let me burn CD's anymore. Why?

Try choosing a different set of songs, if still your CD burning fails, try copying large chunk of data or a data cd to cd copy if possible. If this also fails, you have to give your cd burner for service / replacement based on the warranty entitled.

Windows xp installing failed

I assume you are trying to install XP from a self-burned CD.
Did you slipstream SP2 or SP3 in it?

If so, try to burn a DVD instead of a CD. I had that problem once too and followed some advice I found here.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

I get an error 4280 when I attempt to burn an audio cd

Apparently a common error; if you google error 4280 you'll get several different versions of what is happening. Some blame the Sony CD's other blame Dell, HP, etc...like I said there is a long list so I didn't want to pick out just one, it depends on your Computer type, combined with the CDs..so go ahead and take a look. Personally from reading some of the fixes I came up with; don't use Sony disc and run at 16x to get rid of the error. Hope this helps..

Please rate this solution.
