Lexmark 8300 drivers and vista

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.lexmark.com
and enter the model-number (8300) of your printer, and do the search.
Select your Operating System (Vista).
Download the device-driver.
Install it.

You can download the drivers from:
www.lexmark.com just enter your model in the search box.

Lexmark have not yet released a driver for Vista and there does not appeasr to be any intention to do so from what i have read on their bulletins. Dopn;t wait sell it on ebay to an xp user and get a better supported printer

I need you to make sure that the driver you are using to install the LEXMARK 8300 is compatible with VISTA.

Before installing the new driver you have to uninstall the old one. If the system is not permitting to uninstall the driver, then try installing the new driver by the following steps:
ensure your printer is connected to your computer and the power is on

 1.) click start / right click computer and select properties
2.) click device manager
3.) Click View then show hidden devices

4.) right click on the printer and click uninstall

5.) Unplug your printer usb from your computer

6.) RESTART

7.) INSTALL THE PRINTER WITH THE VISTA DRIVERS YOU DOWNLOADED..

 REMEMBER NOT TO PLUG IN YOUR PRINTER UNTIL THE SETUP SOFTWARE TELLS YOU TO DO SO.

Click "Drivers" and follow the buttons for your printer name and model number.

Ok here we go
unplug your printer (from usb)
1.) Click start / right click my computer choose properties
2.) choose device manager
3.) right click on anything on the tree view and choose scan for hardware changes

5. put in your printer driver an begin the instilliation process
6.) when it ask to connect your printer connect it and ensure it is on
7.) it should detectyour printer automatically
8.) if it fails to do this, leave the program running and repeat steps 1 to 3 it will find your printer and install it..

9.) if that still fails click start / control panel / classic view and then choose Problems and reports..

A MISSING DRIVER problem should show up there. select it and choose solve problem via the internet..

If you can't follow that link, go to www.lexmark.com. On the top menu, there is a link called "Drivers and Downloads". Click it and select your series, then your OS system, and there you go.

The drivers for Vista are finally updated.

I had the same problem for about a year... now it works fine.

I have a lexmark 8300, and it keeps giving errors when I fax so I uninstall it, and tried to reinstantall. I am not able to do so.
