Open the Device Manager, uninstall the Realtek from there. Restart the laptop and see if its automatically loads itself on Device Manager well good enough. If it doesn't then you would need to get the motherboard CD of the Acer Laptop and install the Realtek Driver.

Wouldn't it be kinda hard to open Device Manager on a machine that isn't loading the operating system?

My Acer Aspire 5100 keeps rebooting. This is what the screen says: INTEL UMDI PXE2 REALTEK RTL8139 PCI FAST ETHERNET CONTROLLER PXE-E61: MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK CABLE PXE-M0F: EXITING PXE ROM That is all...

The error message means that your system is trying to boot from LAN ie... Network boot enabled in your BIOS.

Since the system can't find any where to boot from. It is restarting.

Also probably your bootloader on the harddrive is corrupt. Please reinstall the operating system using a CD/DVD.

Wile I am trying to boot it up it goes in to a loop

Hello.

That error message usually refers to a hard disk failure. Your hard disk cable could be loose or faulty. Or, your hard drive would need to be replaced.

I'd suggest to check the cable and run your system's hardware diagnostics (often F2 or F12) when your system boots.

Hope this helps.

Problem error:

go buy a new hard drive the hard drive has failed,,,,then use the restore disk and restore your machine...the reason it is going to the ethernet controller is that since the hard drive has failed it tries to access the next bootable device...and none is present
