It is beacuse your Hard drive is not detected on the computer properly.
Try resetting BIOS.
If that doesnt work, Check whether your hard drive is good.
How can i reset the BIOS? should it help if i replace the hard drive?
Follow the process to reset BIOS if it is an Acer Aspire 5100.
(Note: Navigating through BIOS will be different for different kinds of BIOS.)
Start tapping F2 as soon as the computer powers on and you are in the BIOS utility.
Press F9 and then ENTER. That will reset your BIOS settings.
Press F10 and then ENTER. That will save the new settings and exit BIOS.
Now the computer will restart.
Check whether there is any luck.
Replacing the hard drive will definitely fix this issue.
But you will have to reload the operating system with the Recovery Disc of the computer.

If you use ethernet, then your connection, possibly the cable, is not working.
IF you don't use the ethernet connection, and have no cable plugged in for ethernet, the warning is NORMAL.
SOURCE: Computer does not boot up
Sounds like the computer cannot find your hard drive and is looking for other means to boot the machine. It first is looking for a network hard drive, then it is looking at the DVD. When that fails it is asking you to check the computer for hardware errors. Check to make sure the hard drive is seated in it's compartment. The DV6000 has an adapter that fits on the end of its SATA drive and sometimes that adapter can wiggle loose from the contacts. Just take the hard drive out and then re-seat it to the connector. In most cases it is either a loose connection or the hard drive has suffered a failure.

I had this happen to me before with an IBM laptop. I bought a new hard drive, reinstalled a fresh OS, and had no more problems after that. I also went right to ibm website and did all the updates, as well as all the microsoft updates. So my same problem as your ended up being a bad hard drive. maybe check into that?.

Are you on a company network ?
As I said if you are, then booting from a network may be part of your company system.
If it is just a home computer then you have other issues which could range from something as simple as a faulty hard drive cable to a dead hard drive.
If it is a company computer on a full lan then turn boot from network back on and see if it will boot. if not then te server that has the boot source may have an error or the lan may have issues.
