The problem is the discoloration of the picture this happens due to magnet effect..or a magnet probably speakers set of a sound system place near your tv..2nd is the built in demagnetizer of your tv is malfunctioning...the built in demagnetizer is place at the back of the pictire tube it is wrap with an electrical tape and place around the picture tube..it is activated everytime the tv is power on...the demagnitizer is controlled by a thermistor switch..it is a device which is activated by a certain temperature, once it reach the max temp.it switch off..check whether it is soldered proerly on the pcb..use a soldering iron to fix it..you can also buy a demagnitizer from an electronic shops to demagnitized the picture tube..simply plug in the demagnitizer to an AC outlet and with the TV powers on bring the demagnitizer in front of the tv in front ot the monitor press the switch on button and move the demagnitizer in circle and sideways until color is ok..caution do not power the demagnitizer for a long time this produces hit rapiddly.

good luck hope this helps you..

Sony Trinitron's colors have turned green yellow

Only yellow color denotes the absence of Blue color. Check it. Check its video output card for any loose solder terminals at the blue color output section circuits.

PT-47wx42 color problems

Hi,

This could be a heater-cathode (H-K) short in the CRT, a failure of a component in the chroma circuits or video output (driver board), or bad connections there or elsewhere. Don't panic - heater-cathode shorts in CRTs can often be worked around.
Note: before proceeding, it is a good idea to make sure that the screen is degaussed - else you could be attempting to track down problems with the wrong color!
Some simple tests can confirm or rule out other possibilities.

  • Compare the voltages for the video drive signals to the CRT on the little board on the neck of the CRT with the CRT both connected and unplugged. A schematic will help greatly in locating these signals.
    • If there is a significant difference especially on the bad color, then the CRT is a likely candidate. Try tapping the neck of the CRT GENTLY (with it plugged in and while viewing a picture) to see if it is an intermittent problem.
    • If there is no significant difference, you may have a bad driver or a problem in the chroma circuits.

  • Look for bad connection/cold solder joints, probably on the little board on the neck of the CRT. Use an insulated stick to gently prod the board and its components in an effort to induce/cure the problem. Look carefully for hairline cracks around the component leads.
  • You can swap components between two colors and/or test with an ohmmeter on that driver board to determine what is bad. The nice thing about color monitors and TVs is that there three copies of each of these components. Swapping and/or comparisons between these is an excellent diagnostic technique.
  • Another simple test: Disconnect the cathode for the full-on color from its drive. If it is still full-on, there is probably an H-K short in the CRT since the only way to get each color on the screen is via the cathode connection to the CRT neck board. If it is removed and there is still that color, the current must be taking another path inside the CRT.
  • Alternatively, interchange the outputs of the bad color with a good one by jumpering on the video driver board (on the CRT neck). If the bad color changes, then the problem is in the circuitry and not the CRT.
So you have to get a tech if the above method doesn't solve your problem and get it fixed..

Goodluck,
Please don't forget tor ate me as fixya..

I have a Sony KDP-57WS550 TV that has a convergence problem. Based on the symptoms, I'm not sure whether to indict the convergence ICs. In the convergence mode, I can move the red (and blue) crosses,...

With your TV in setup Use a small magnet to "move" the non converged Red, Blue, or, Green color lines "crosses" (each CRT will need to be adjusted in turn) by moving the magnet close to the offending Red, Blue or,Green color CRT yoke or, tube while observing the movement of the CRT color line "cross" in a mirror ( try several places near the tube and, several strengths of magnets:) a refrigerator sheet magnet works well (you can cut these with a scissors to make a better fit or, apply less magnetic "pull." by making them smaller (you may need more than one magnet per tube to fix each CRT's convergence) When you have each CRT tube's convergence right, apply some clear silicone adhesive to the magnet and, permanently affix the magnet to the now "fixed" CRT tube exactly where you placed the magnet to obtain the best convergence on the CRT.
(Do not adjust the "Green" CRT unless you must, as it is used as the color line to adjust other lines to)

Color of green in upper right corner and lower left corner

Hello; You probably have a CRT type set. Something has magnetized your CRT/Picture tube. The set has a built in degaussing system that will only work when you turn on the set when it is COLD ONLY. If after several cycles of turning on the COLD set and the green color hasn't gone, the circuit in the set for doing this has failed, OR you have the set near strong magnets, such as speakers. PUT ALL speakers at least 4 feet from the set and go through these off on COLD cycles. The deflection yoke on the picture tube could have moved due to Sony using crappy adhesives to hold the yoke positioning wedges in place. I am so glad to be done with Sony!!!!! John

Color wash at upper right corner of screen and lower left corner, color bleed. Resembles the colors of a florescent yellow or purple highlighter.

Projection TV sets have two common problems. The first is known as a convergence problem. Common symptoms are....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
The other common problem is cloudy CRT fluid in the lens.

Common Symptoms - you TV may have one or more of these...
  • Dull Video
  • Bright video - whiteish
  • Redish video
  • Halos around objects

On a white picture my screen has a yellow color to it and at times mill have a blue blur on the bottom left corner of the screen. also i get blue dots in the middle on the screen.

Hello: Seems like you have a picture tube problem. The yellow color is from a weak green crt. I suggest replacing the Red and Green Crt's in this model. They are nortoriuos for Failure especially the Red. The cost for these tube vary from 110.00ea to 150.00each. I don't know if you want to spend that type of money on this set, as i Know this peticular set has an expectional picture quailty, my experience with replacing sony picture tubes, is to replace all three tubes, as the new ones will show brighter. So replacing the red and green crt's and not the blue is not recommened. But thats up to you, you might not notice the color difference yourself. You also have the option of sending the Crt's for refurbished ones or having the originals rebuilt by a company in Calif, called VDC, Video display Corp. They sell and refurbish sony CRTs. This route is much cheaper, the only problem is having the crt's taken out and sent for repair. The other option is to think about purchasing a new set. As this repair price could reach into hundreds of dollars, Around $600 to $700 for parts and Labor..

The problem I am having is that my 32' Sony Wega kv32fs12 Trinitron television will work almost perfectly. Image color is beautiful. tuners seem to be working like a charm, but the screen has a slight...

Picture alignments made in servive menu.

pwr off + display + 5 + (+vol) + pwr on
You must do all within 1 second.
1&4 move thru settings, 6&3 chg value,
muting & enter saves chgs.

Your code access could differ.

In the menu note down all existing settings.
Make small adjustments and watch what happens if not in right direction reset that particular option to original value before you changed. In those menus you can bend, shift hor. and vert., etc.
But be warned only slight adjustments and write down start values before experimenting. Or you can get in to serious trouble.

Good secret service menues keep an access counter for manufacturer/dealer to see how many times it was used.

Blue Convergence just went out?

High Voltage Capacitor? Leave the set unplugged for 1/2 hour most components will selfdischarge, as for your problem, being a Magnavox, you have one of two problems, the convergence I suspect is what is blown out, this unit probably uses STK392-110 Ic's, I would suggest replacing with STK394-160e chips as they are probably shorted, some of the big resistors (1 or 2) may be opened up also, usually they change color. The only other thing that would cause usually a yellow color in the corners is the CRT Fluid, it changes from clear to Orange in color and clamps off the blue color from the fringes, I suspect the chips need replacement, dont forget to put some heatsink dope behind them, they are usually on the left in the front of the set (from the back) Big long heatsink that is fairly tall (probably the biggest heatsink in the set.) Good luck, and the repair usually runs around $350.
