I have a Canon ImageClass MF4270 printer/fax/copier. All of a sudden it would not work. 5 Minutes ago I printed 2 pages and now when I try to fax the pages it will not fax. The print, fax and scan button all were lit up and the rest of th buttons did not make any noise when pressed (ie a beep) except for 3, 6, 9 and #. I've tried: 1) Turning off the machine, wait 20 seconds and turn it on - no help 2) Turning off the machine, unplug all of the wires and power cord, wait 30 seconds and then plug the power cord back in - no help I called a repair company that fixes these machines and they said the may you simply need to go into the machine and reset it. Does anyone know how to do this so I don't have to pay $100 to see if that will fix the problem?

normally, it's because you are copying in a high resolution. have a look at your user manual, lower the scan resolution and it should be a lot faster. Check that you're scanning in black and white -that can speed things up as well.

You need to carefully clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the carriage that runs all the way from right to left. A damp Q-tip should remove any grease or fingerprints.

Hello sir; Check the paper path carefully is there have anything block over there, especial at both end. is the paper jam everytime at same place? cleaning up the roller with alcohol.

First make sure that the USB cable is OK and use another if you have one. Then make sure that the laptops have working USB ports from Device Manager. If they are OK then try powering up the Canon again without the USB cable connected to see if any errors are reported and then plug it in to your laptop to see if it is recognised. Check the status of the Canon Print Driver settings. If this all fails then you may have defective USB ports on the Canon and will need to get them repaired.
