Canon MP480- 5011 - Printer Error Has Occurred After Scan/Prt

Full text of message - 5011 - Printer Error Has Occurred. Turn of power then back on again. If problem persists, see the manual.

This is almost new printer/scanner. Error showed up on LCD after successfully scanning/printing color document.

Tried powering off/on many times. Disconnected both power and USB cables - error returns every time.

Interior check shows no paper jams or missed packing materials.

Tempted to try reinstalling drivers; except that this error occurred when I used printer/scanner as a standalone copier.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

I have turned the printer on and off repeatedly but the error persists. It's Canon MP640, error C000

Just setting the printer up - removed all the plastics covering the printer according to manual, skipped the fax setup and went straight to switching on the printer.

Pressed the power button and after it loads, error message 5011 "Printer error has occurred. Turn off power then back on again. If problem persists, see the manual" pops up instead of the language setup that should have appeared.

You need to carefully clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the carriage that runs all the way from right to left. A damp Q-tip should remove any grease or fingerprints.

Another thing you want to check is that you have nothing lodged in the printer. that was my problem. I don't know how it got there but all the printer needed was to have the pieces of paper blocking its path removed.

My Canon MX320 printer showing error occurred 5b00.i follow what YouTube said and now it's saying service mode. And the alarm light is still blanking. What I should do next??

The error message "error occurred 5B00" on a Canon MX320 printer typically indicates a problem with the waste ink absorber. The waste ink absorber is a component in the printer that absorbs excess ink that is expelled during cleaning and other maintenance operations. When the waste ink absorber becomes full, it can cause this error to occur.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Reset the printer: You can reset the printer by unplugging it from the power source, waiting a few minutes, and then plugging it back in.
  2. Service mode: You can enter the service mode by pressing the "Menu" button, then "Copying", then "Functions", then "Maintenance" and then "OK". Once in service mode, you can try to reset the waste ink counter.
  3. Clean the print head: Clean the print head to ensure that the printer is properly aligned and functioning correctly.
  4. Replace the waste ink absorber: If the waste ink absorber is full, it will need to be replaced.

Canon MP 648 suddenly appeared a message: ERROR 5012, then after the power off and turned on again appears ERROR 5050. Printer error has occurred. TURN POWER OFF THEN BACK ON AGAIN. SEE IF THE PROBLEM...

From the service manual, both errors relate to the scanner unit:

[5012] An error occurred in the scanner FB motor.
(1) Cable connection (2) Part replacement: - Scanner unit

[5050] The AFE was faulty.
(1) Cable connection (2) Part replacement: - Scanner unit

I don't know if the following YouTube video will help, but you could watch and see if it applies to your printer.

Error when scanning

Hi Liz
Looking at that message I get the impression that the printer is not actually scanning but trying to 'import' from a non-existent camera card.
You don't normally get an import message when scanning.
The destination full or read only part is a puzzle but could indicate that it is also trying to copy back to that non-existent card.
I think your best option is to use Canon's web site and look at the support section. They may well have an on-line chat service in your area that can help you sort it out.

Error message is this: Error Number : 6A00 A problem has occurred with the printer mechanism. Cancel printing and turn off the printer. Wait a few moments, then turn the power back on. If the problem...

Unplug printer power supply from wall or powerstrip. Wait 10 minutes then plug in power supply and turn on printer and try again. If problem persists and it is under warranty contact Canon for repair. Otherwise it might be time to buy a new one.
