Question about Logitech QuickCam Express Web Camera

1 Answer

Install went well, however

Whenever I try to use the camera for anything, nothing shows up. All that is displayed on my screen is a white or black image, no picture of what the camera is pointing at. The OS that I am running on is XP. Any thoughts?

The camera works fine, definately not the lighting. Today I installed it on my mom's computer and it worked great. I'm thinking it has to be something with my computer...because I also have an EyeToy camera that works on my mom's computer, but not mine. Nothing seems to be working! Haha, oh well maybe someone will figure something out.
(By the way, when running AMCAP or any other video-capturing program, all that is displayed is a white screen, however, it does detect the camera.)

Have you tried using the camera in different lighting? That might be the issue either too much light or not enough light.

Whenever I click on the lifecam icon to open up the program for the webcam all that shows up is a black screen where I should be seeing me.

1) Is the camera switched on, check see if there's a small switch on top of the camera.
2) Try a different USB port.
3) RMB My computer, Select manage - device manager - check if there are any yellow alarms. Specifically for you camera, the driver may need reloading.

VX-1000 problems

Start- right click my computer - properties - hardware - device manager. Click on the + signs to expand links, find your camera, is there any question or exclamation marks showing, is so, right click & see what it says.
If nothing shows up as wrong, un-install your cam in device manager, restart your computer,(cam unplugged) when up & running, plug your cam back in & system will see it as new device & install it.
Hope this helps your issue.
Have a nice day.

My camera just shows a black screen

it means either you have not connected the camera to the pc properly or you have not installed the software.if you have already installed the driver and software re-install it again and check the connections too.sometimes even the drivers make problem.

Black or white screen shows up when i try to use webcam

Test your webcam here by clicking 'Allow' in the top box and your webcam should display in the left hand panel

http://www.testmycam.com/

If it works reasonably well - you know your software is at fault and you need to uninstall the software and reinstall using the CD and updating it.
Or install direct from the Lifecam website.

Multiple screen coming up in black and white also flickering on and off

I have a logitech quickcam E3500
I have 4 black & white images

I tried downloading older and newer versions of the software, no joy.

From the logitech site, I found this fix:

Go to Start>Run, type "dxdiag", wait for the application to show, then go to the "Display" tab and disable Direct3D acceleration or Directdraw acceleration. Exit. That's all.

I tried it and it works a treat.
