Whenever I try to use the camera for anything, nothing shows up. All that is displayed on my screen is a white or black image, no picture of what the camera is pointing at. The OS that I am running on is XP. Any thoughts?

1) Is the camera switched on, check see if there's a small switch on top of the camera. 2) Try a different USB port. 3) RMB My computer, Select manage - device manager - check if there are any yellow alarms. Specifically for you camera, the driver may need reloading.
Start- right click my computer - properties - hardware - device manager. Click on the + signs to expand links, find your camera, is there any question or exclamation marks showing, is so, right click & see what it says.
If nothing shows up as wrong, un-install your cam in device manager, restart your computer,(cam unplugged) when up & running, plug your cam back in & system will see it as new device & install it.
Hope this helps your issue.
Have a nice day.
it means either you have not connected the camera to the pc properly or you have not installed the software.if you have already installed the driver and software re-install it again and check the connections too.sometimes even the drivers make problem.
Test your webcam here by clicking 'Allow' in the top box and your webcam should display in the left hand panel
If it works reasonably well - you know your software is at fault and you need to uninstall the software and reinstall using the CD and updating it. Or install direct from the Lifecam website. http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=ICE
