Its because of your laptop is having dust inside
you didn't mention how old your laptop is
but you can see a holes for cpu fane in your laptop
by this hole dust goes inside and now your heatsinkl is not working properly
so just open your laptop case if you know how to do this
otherwise its not advisable
if you dont know how to open case go to any technician and let him do this for you

The screen of acer travelmate 2480 is dirm and after some few seconds it becomes bright again.i formated the notebook but the problem is still persisting.

If it's dim with a purple/blue tint to it (before brightening) then the fluorescent tube is failing.

Eventually the screen will go black, and stay that way.
You need to get the backlight replaced if this is the case (which I'd put a 97% probability on)

Got a very dim light scree on my travelmate.can't increase it with fn.

Hi

If you look at some of the other keys on the keyboard there should be 2 keys with lights on them mine are on the right hand side what you need to do i believe is press the Fn key as well as the up light key at the same time and hopefully that should make your screen brighter

You have to FORMAT the hard disk in the notebook were u going to use it! Then you could partition it!

My laptop can on but sometime when i turn on the machine it goes dark and very dim can see the images but very hard..whats the problem graphic card?,or the lcd screen cable or the inverter or the screen...

What operating system are you using? On laptops there are settings for when your using battery power that dims the screen to conserve battery power. This could be the problem in your case.

Mouse not working on touchpad...believe I hit the wrong fn key because my screen went very dim now is dark....which fn keys work for the mouse and is there any other fn key for brightness other than fn +...

They are all like this. You can try disabling the dimming function in the bios but it won't help. The screen is simply dull.

Acer Travelmate LCD screen went dark

The same thing happened on my HP. I ended up buying a LCD screen off ebay. That corrected the problem. New screens cost $150+. You can get one off ebay for half the price.

you need an inverter board. we can supply you with it if you'd like. let me know if you need more help.

90% of it's the inverter board, the other 10 could be a bad fl tube in the lcd itself.

its just because of your fan ... your fan is not working properly so processor is becominh over heat and problems occurs
try to find new fan for your notebook
i know its defficult to find cpu fan for notebook but you must have to find it
