How do I get a username and password.

In general, you have to use a PC to connect to the router with a LAN cable and then use the CD that comes with the router to access the setup page. Username (SSID) and password can be accessed and changed from there.

How do i setup my wireless linksys model wcg200?

The wireless settings that you need to take note of are:
a. SSID - this is the name of your wireless network
b. SSID Broadcast - an indication if your SSID is showing on the list of networks available
c. Wireless Security - serves as the password for your wireless network

To check the wireless settings on the Linksys router, follow the steps below.
Checking the Wireless Settings on the Linksys Router
Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here. If you are using a Mac computer to access the web-based setup page, click here.
Step 2:
When the router's web-based setup page appears, click Wireless.
4678-009.png Step 3:
Look for Wireless Network Name (SSID). If it's still set to "linksys", change it to something unique then click 6-4680.jpg NOTE: Take note if SSID Broadcast is Enabled or Disabled. If it is Enabled, it means your SSID will show among the list of wireless networks available when any wireless device will search for a network to connect to. If it is Disabled, it will not be visible.

Step 4:
Click the Wireless Security subtab and take note of the current Security Mode.

If Security Mode is set to WEP:

I want to change the name and the security password from default..but how? can anybody help me? thanks..

You can change the wireless name (SSID) and the wireless password by accessing the setup page. To access the setup page, do the following;

Open internet explorer or firefox and type in 192.168.0.1. It will ask for username and password. In the username field, type "Admin" , A in Admin should be a big letter. In the password field , don't type anything. Hit enter in yout keyboard and you will see the set-up page. In the set-up, look at the right side and click Wireless Settings and you will see Wireless Network Name (Also called the SSID) , and change that. Under Wireless Security Mode, change the wireless password or Passphrase.

HOW DO I LOCK MY ROUTER

Locking the router can be done by setting a WEP key. Its a 10 digit alphanumeric key that you can set. Once you set it up, anyone who tries to access your router wirelessly will be prompted for that 10 digit key. Be sure to change your SSID (wireless network name) also so that you can distinguish your own secured wireless network from others.

SSID can be changed on the main setup page.

1. To access it, open Internet explorer while your computer is physically connected to the router.

2. Type http:\\192.168.1.1 (the default IP address of the router.) It will ask you for the username and password.

3. Enter the word "admin" for both username and password. It is the factory default username and password. On the main setup page, you will find the field for SSID or Network name.

4. Type your unique wireless network name and click the Save button on the bottom of the page.

5. On the router's web-based setup page, click the Wireless tab then click the Wireless Security sub-tab

6. Click the drop-down arrow for Security Mode and select WEP.

7. Under WEP Encryption select 64 bits 10 hex digits.

8. Enter a unique word in the Passphrase field, then click Generate.

9. The result will be a string of letters and numbers displayed in the space provided for Key 1.

NOTE: Take note of what is in Key 1. This key will serve as the wireless security password. Keep this key confidential.

10. Click the Save Settings button.

From now on, whenever anyone tries to access your wireless network, they need to enter Key 1 which you only know. There you go. Your wireless network is protected.

How do i get my ssid code

By default, the SSID of the router is NETGEAR, and the wireless security is disabled.

However, if you have already changed the default settings on the router, then you can check the settings by accessing the setup page.

In the address bar of your web browser, type 192.168.1.1. Or if this doesn't work, type www.routerlogin.net.

Default username is admin. Default password is password.

Once in the setup page, go to Wireless Settings. You will see the SSID and wireless security settings.

I hope this helps!
