On January 30th my Maxent TV (purchased 6-24-07) MX42HPT51 stoped working. When power is introduced i.e. "plug unit into wall elec plug" unit turns itself on with no user input and green "ON" light illuminates followed by a relay click two seconds later. At no time does a picture display. No sound is present. Remote has no control. On botton on TV has no control. By un-pluging TV the green light goes out and the whole process can be started again by pluging the TV in again. This is not the real problem! On January 31st I contacted Maxent and my real problem started. I spent over two hours trying to get to Tech support and then the call was dropped by Ilean! Spent another 1:30 minutes and got to talk with Desire! She went through the motions and said to EM and FAX her the information she needed. Desire stated that a part had to be ordered and that a service rep would be calling me to schedule an appointment. On February 6th I contacted Maxent again to find out if the repair man was going to call me any time soon. After staying on the phone for more than two hours I was never able to talk to a single person! I left messages with every department and no one ever called. On February 11th (Monday)I again attempted to contacted Maxent. I was only dropped one time but finally reached Desire! She looked up my service "CASE #" and made the following statement " You will be contacted with-in 7 bussines days by a repair person" This is exactly what I heard from her on January 31, 2007! In addition Desire never opened my EM that I had sent her. I asked to speak with her suppervisor and she gave me "Rick". Rick was very informative and said the part needed was back ordered and "might" be in this week! I said that I wanted Maxent to send a replacement for my defective TV and that when I received the new replacement I would use the replacement box and send maxent the defective unit. Rick said this was possible and that he would have to manually produce the replacement form, send it to me for my signature and wait for me to return the completed form. I asked to have the form sent while I had him on the phone so we could expidite the process. He stated that this was not possible with Maxent and he would personally see that the form was sent out today! Rick also stated that the replacement TV would be shipped out tuesday or wednesday and that I would have to pay for the return shipment. Today is Tuesday February 12th and Rick has yet to send me the TV replacement form. Dennis from Deerfield Beach, FL
Purchased the same TV on july 1 2007.The green thing on the TV is on.I hear sound but see no picture. The remote has no control and neither does the panel on the bottom of the TV.I was thinking about calling up customer service but i dont think that seems to be a good idea.
my Maxent went dead just out of warranty. The unit had been barely used with about 50 hours total. I went to the reseller and they asked if I had exteneded warranty. I called maxent and they said too bad. I started out by having green lines with no picture and now it simply wont power up. my Maxent went dead just out of warranty. Re: On January 30th my Maxent TV (purchased 6-24-07)...
Common fault on this set is a digital board; sometimes it takes out FETs on the power supply board as well. The digital board is the cause. Fix is to replace that board and see if the power supply is okay.

Sounds like the power supply is bad. If you purchased the unit new in January 2011, contact Phillips for warranty repair. Call 1-866-771-4018 between 8 am and 11 pm Monday through Saturday or 9 am - 6 pm Sunday. Have your model number, purchase date and serial number ready. New units have a 1 year warranty.
If this was a refurbished unit, the warranty is probably up (only 90 days). Replacement power supplies may be available on line. You will need to open the TV to get the current part number to get a matching one. I see a few listed at shopjimmy.com http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=47PFL6704D . This site specializes in minimally used parts (from TVs damaged during shipping).
Tv still have any warrenty day left?Call for warrenty repair qickly, this tv have an intermittent problems by the tv Tuner signal board, that why sometimes it work, sometimes it dosen't all.The tv Tuner signal board, that the board where the imcomming broadcasting signal cable plug into it.
Recently, I dropped HBO with my cable company and there dont have a box. Since the Maxent 42 is only a monitor and doesnot have a tuner...there is no where to plug cable from the wall to the tv.
Solution...plug cable from wall to VCR/DVD and then use RCA cables (Red,White and Yellow cables) from output from VCR/DVD. works great.
See if you can reset the electronics to factory defaults. Also check with the mfg about this. If nothing works you have one sick puppy on your hands.
Try this - turn set on then pull the power plug. Then push and hold the power button to on position for a few minutes.
Release button and plug back in Turn on and see what happens.
