Im using a 2Wire Gateway DSL connected via ethernet to a Mac G4, I also have a laptop running windows vista and it has strong wi-fi connection, sending packets at optimal levels and speed. BUT Problem

Vista has a well known flaw of not allowing you to easily change access rights after selecting "public network" in the initial network connection screens. The easiest fix is to change the name of your wifi access point, reconnect, and be absolutely certain to select "home network" when the prompt comes up.

The best solution however is to ditch that crummy excuse for an operating system and upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.

I cannot get internet on my laptop from an open access point with Time Warner internet

Hello,

Though you are getting strong signals from the router, the router itself may not be connected to the Internet. The owner may leave the router on but power off the modem. It is possible that they may use the router for thier own private network with no connection to the Internet. When you connect to the router, check your network and sharing center to see if you see an X marked on the connection between the router and the Internet. If you do, the router is not connected to the modem.

Good Luck

I recently restored my Compaq Presario V2000 back to windows xp (it was vista before). Now, I cannot connect to the internet. The laptop picks up the signal and the icon on the bottom right says that...

A Belkin router doesn't usually force the utilities page on you. I would advise checking your start page - you might have set it to your router's homepage by accident.

My hp dv 4 -1123us can not connect to unsecured network

Hello.

It could be possible that this network you are trying to connect to is only an access point and does not actually have an internet connection associated with it. Is this a network of yours or are you trying to piggy back on someone's? At any rate, what is your signal strength of this connection. If you are more than approximately 75 ft. away, you are not going to get a strong signal to be able to use the internet.

Need to amplify incoming internet signal

Install a wireless access point at the strongest signal spot you have. This will repeat the signal throughout the rest of the house, or an addition length as necessary. You can purchase a good linksys wireless access point at bestbuy for $83 or cheaper from a trusted ebay dealer. Setup is fairly easy, follow manual.

WUSB54GC model wireless adapter won't connect after months of use

Instead of using the passphrase use the wep key 1 that you created on the router page when you generate it using the passphrase.

Then when you try to connect using the linksys wireless monitor just leave the passphrase blank and type in the wep key1 box the key that I mentioned earlier.
