The motor of our 3-4 year old washer started to run in intervals every few seconds and then stops unlike the usual continuous run to complete a cycle. Is there aa reset button I need to push or is it the end of this washer? The Whirlpool washer we had prior to this one lasted 11 years. We are concerend but we need asistance.
This is most likely the brushes on the motor. Intermittently failing due to wear and tear. I *could* be the motor but the brushes are very cheap in comparison.
On most washers the brushes are < £20. Time to fit is less than 0.5 hours.
You have three options
1/ If you are or know someone who is very technical and confident - once you have the right parts should be able to install them. (Unlplug the unit before touching!!!)
2/ If you have a service contract use it, they should provide parts and fix.
3/ A service engineer is your last option - say £90 callout + parts. (On certain washer units parts are free up to five years old - but you have to pay the call out fee)
Please dont forget to rate me, thanks!!
