Try to hook it up to an external monitor, if this works, your video card is working, Next Step.. then look on the laptop keyboard for a functiion key with a little picture of a screen on it, usually u have to hold down the fn key and hit F4, or F5 or F6 etc, look at the F keys at the top of the keyboard, and hold down function key at the bottom left of the keyboard, usually near the alt and ctrl keys, if you dont have a fn key (function key then hit ctr key, and at the same time hit the F key with screen pic on it, it might say lcd on key or be a box inside a box on the key. If this doesnt work try rebooting the laptop in safe mode by hitting F8 key before windows starts and go into safe mode. It is possible that a recent program or windows update that was installed is causing the blank screen. If the black screen happened after a new software install, delete that software while in safe mode. And reboot, Good Luck :)

I have a toshiba a305 it turns on says toshiba then just turns black still on all lights and fans but just a black screen

Your system is not producing video output after the POST, which means the Windows video is messed up or there is a problem with a component like memory.
Because you can see the Toshiba splash screen, it tells you the LCD screen is fine. At least you know the LCD screen is working. See if you can get into the CMOS setup screen. I think it may be by pressing F2 on startup. If you can get to that, make sure the hardware is correct (like seeing if your hard drive is seen as installed).
You can also try to press F8 on startup and start the computer in safe mode. Very possibly something is trying to start when Windows starts and not completing its startup.

I have a Toshiba Satellite p205 laptop, The problem Im having is the monitor is going blank at times. When I attach another monitor to it, it works fine. When not attached it will go to black screen...

Satellites are notorious for video hardware failure. I have one, and it does the same thing. Usually, when I move the lid during bootup, the screen comes on. But the problem lies in the video chip itself - the Satellites tend to overheat, causing the video chip to become unseated. Google it, you will see what I'm talking about. Type in, satellite p205 video problem or something. Good luck.

Toshiba Satellite A105 Display

If you've replaced the LCD Panel already, then chances are good, the failing part may be the FLR inverter. It's a thin little chip about 3 or 4 inches in length that bridges the connection between the LCD and the motherboard. It's location varies from computer to computer though, so you may have to check with manufacturer documentation. They're not too terribly expensive to replace though, much cheaper than the LCD panel, anyways.
