Can I upgrade my CPU on a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4011?

My Toshiba Satellite A105-S4011 laptop currently has an Intel Core Solo T1300 processor. I have updated my BIOS to the latest version and have attempted to install an Intel Core Duo T2300E processor as well as an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 processor with no luck. (The laptop will not POST.)Is it possible to upgrade the processor on this specific Toshiba Satellite laptop or am I stuck with my current Intel Core Solo T1300 processor?

Testimonial: "Thank you Angerball for your solution. I know on that particular thread someone said they were getting a black screen when they tried to upgrade the CPU, and once they upgraded the BIOS it worked. My BIOS is all up to date as well, but every attempt to install a compatible processor still results in a black screen. Is there something else that I am missing? "

First, do you have another machine you can put your new CPU into to confirm if it works or not?

Second, and I'm really sorry I didn't say this earlier, but if you hadn't already bought the CPU, I would say to spend the money on an SSD or at least one of the Seagate hybrid HDDs instead. I suspect a drive replacement will give you a better performance bump without getting CPU grease all over yourself.

SOURCE: which processor can I upgrade to?

Honestly, it is normally not worth it to upgrade the cpu on a laptop. Laptops are build to deal with a certain amount of heat and adding a faster cpu can cause the current cpu cooling fans to not get the job done anymore. You will seem instability in your system and could possibly damage it due to over heating.

With that said you would only be able to upgrade to a very slightly higher speed cpu and your money would be better spent else where. Some good ways to speed up a laptop are max out your memory or install a faster hard drive. For example if your current drive is a stock 5400rpm unit a 7200rpm drive would give you a nice boost. You could also look into a solid state option.

Both these upgrades will give your laptop a better boost without the hassle and risk of a cpu upgrade.

Each are Core Duo processors. I hope this helps!

Can I upgrade my Toshiba A105-S4011 CPU processor (solo Core T1300 processor)? What is it compatible to?

if you are looking for performance, you may want to start with the RAM first. It is DDR2 and that laptop is able to go up to a max of 4GB RAM. If that doesn't speed things up, consider getting a 7200RPM hard drive. Laptop processors rather difficult to upgrade. It will require disassembling the laptop completely and theres a good chance that something will be damaged in the process
