Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

Make and model number please. I am going to post this as a solution but if you need data specific to your make and model number your going to have to pass it on to us. Without it all I can do is pass generic data and can not tell you how to start an automatic defrost cycle with your defrost timer due to varying locations of the different model defrost timers or controls.

Most of the time when a freezer will not reach a termperature expected there is an ice build up on the coils. You might get about a 2 or 3 day relief by doing a manual defrost with a fan placed in front of the freezer for a little over 2 hours blowing into the freezer compartment. It will make a water mess so be prepaired.

After the manual defrost is completed check the temp 6 - 8 hours later and see if it is below 26 degrees. If it is below 26 degrees you may have a defrosting problem and the original symptom will repeat in 2 - 3 days if there is a defosting problem.

The evaporator fan not turning full speed can also cause the same temperature problems.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

Dirty condenser, condenser fan motor is not running, freezer overpacked, bad thermostat, evaporator ice build up and it blocks the air flow. evaporator fan motor is not running or sealed system problem.

Freezer is around 3 years old. When set at -17 degrees the freezer clicks very noisely, a relay operating I think. When the fast freeze button is pressed this clicking stops but the display reads -27...

In my opinion, since your going for the fast freeze mode, your freezer sets to its lowest operating temperature to fast tract the freezing process.

and about the noisy clicking sound it is probably a thermostat or relays depending on your system which starts and stop the compressor.

i think your freezer is just doing fine.

DO NOT TRY TO MODIFY TIMING CYCLE.you would need to completely modify printed circuit board and inbuilt computer......some freezers cycle around 6 to 8 hours.the temperature can only be checked say every 12 hours to get an average reading

I have a haier deep freeze model hcm050ec what is the pressure suppost to be

I am assuming you have some refrigeration smarts. As a general rule the evap in a freezer is 10 degrees low than the box temp. Take the pressure of the low side then look on a P/T chart for that refrigerant and determine if it is where it needs to be. Usually somewhere around -10 to-15 degrees for a zero or colder box.

Freezer Not Freezing

check compressor is turned on. if compressor is going, you either have a system or compressor fault and this is not diy if compressor not going, possibly a thermostat fault. in this case put on fast freeze to confirm
