Danby 3.6 cu. ft. / 102 liter Chest Freezer Millenium DCF401W Questions & Answers
Temperature control
I have a danby mini fridge and freezer and noticed the same problem. The temperature dial has NO NUMBERS ON IT! it just has a strip that goes from light to dark blue. That's it. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anywhere which way is colder...it makes sense that the darker the blue the colder the temperature but why keep us guessing?
Adjust the hinges, one side is not sealing
Hello;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
In to your question: No.
The problem with these units is that the covers are very flexible. I am to manually bent the cover back in shape.
Before you do that, Make sure the gasket is not iced up some where. Also, make sure the gasket is even in height. Your can buy a cover gasket for your unit, but if the cover is bent out of shape you are back to the same problem.
Freezer doesn't freeze anymore. Runs like a
On a chest freezer , the coils are located inside the walls of the freezer . The heat normally felt on the outside is the condensor coils inside the wall. The coldness felt on the inside is from the evaporator coils also inside the freezer wall .If the inside of the freezer has over 1/2 inch of frost , then defrosting may work . If NO frost on the inside , possible leak in the coils which are not accessable . Only solution is to replace the freezer . Anyone can buy refrigerant 134a which is what your freezer uses .
The power light is faint and flickering on and off
These power lights are usually of the neon lamp type, and they typically do not last a long time, especially when they are powered on 24/7. They typically fail by flickering at first, then, eventually, they just go out. If you feel confident as a "do it yourselfer", you can often replace this lamp for only a few bucks, but it does require disassembly of the control unit. Otherwise, I'd just leave it alone. If you're concerned about food loss, I'd invest in a freezer alarm. The lamp has no bearing on the operation of the compressor unit. On, flickering or out completely, the freezer will still operate normally.
Replace thermostat compressor
Usually about 500 to 700 $ if it's the compressor the thermostat is way cheaper and there's no compressor thermostat it's one or the other
Green light
Try unplugging the freezer for 10 minutes to reset the cycle.
