Tv volume volume is to loud, can't adjust

Are you using the TV's remote, or a cable company remote?

Sometimes the screen will show one while the other is adjusting the volume up and /or down...

try adjusting the volume directly from the volume buttons on the TV, see if that works.

Sometimes there is a volume on older cable boxes. Unfortuanately adjusting the volume can be a chore because most cable remotes are volume locked to the TV input. You can try and press the cable button on your cable box remote and see if the volume will adjust, if not I would call your cable company and see if they can help, and possibly replace the box. Usually you can take the box to a store for your provider in the area and they can swap it out.

The volume is on the tv not the dvd player, use the tv remote.

Hi - Your Home Theater System and your TV should have separate volume controls. You should be able to control each individually. Start by checking the volume level on your TV with your HTS shut-off. Turn the volume on your TV all the way down to 0.

Next, turn your HTS on and check the volume level there. Is it still loud? If so, try turning the volume down on your HTS. That should do the trick. On the TV-use your finger to adjust the volume level, about midway, then use the remote to shut off the tv, then turn on tv with remote. Volume level should be better! If still not loud enough...using your finger on the tv...turn up volume & repeat remote steps.

sound like the volume is locked out you can access this in the main menu to unlock it

Very likely the volume setting on your cable is set too high. The cable volume is separate from the TV volume. Once you lower the cable volume, then you can adjust your TV volume to find a happy medium that gives you more range between numbers. Have you already tried this?

Well, some TV stations do broadcast at different volume levels. This is very noticeable when watching a TV show and the volume seems normal and then when a commercial comes on, the volume is very loud. They do this to get you to pay attention to the commercial. Another problem might be that you are adjusting volume from both your TV and your cable box. What you should do is make sure your cable box is set to "FIXED VOLUME" and then just adjust your TV volume. Fixed volume will have the cable box output only one volume level, letting the TV do the adjustment. Just go through your cable box setting and look in the audio settings. Hope This helps...

If you use a digital cable box, it could be that the volume on that isn't turned up all the way. I didn't even realize the box had volume controls until 2 years after I got it...makes a HUGE difference now

I found that the problem was also with my HD box. I was able to turn the volume up on the box.
