The most common issue that could cause a lack of beep on startup is RAM related issues. Try removing and dusting the inside of the computer with compressed air. (Obviously, make sure that the computer is unplugged from the electric socket) As always, touch a metal surface before touching any of your inner computer components to dissapate static that can damage your components. After cleaning, remove the RAM and then reseat it in the motherboard RAM slots. You will have to apply slight pressure to reseat the RAM, so make sure that you push evenly on both sides of the RAM to prevent damage to the mother board. If this does not work, the problem may lie with one of the other components.

If there are not lights on the motherboard or case at all when you push the power button, the issue may be the PSU (Power Supply Unit)...

Will not boot. seems the pc is activating but screen remains blank

It should beep once when you turn it on (unless it's a laptop). If it beeps a few times that's a trouble code that you can look up at the manufactures site. But, if it seems to be running okay, just no display: Maybe your monitor is dead/unplugged/shut-off. Try another monitor, if that fails, try another video card.

That is just generic troubleshooting, it could be something specific to the model. Start pulling parts out one at a time and see if it boots, my money is on your video card or monitor though.

In the future it helps us to know the model, when it stopped working, is it a PC or a laptop, what lights flash, etc.. More details better answers.

Dell vostro 200 4 beeps then with f2 starts

here is the explanation of what can be possibly wrong,
1 long, 2 short - Video adapter error: Bad or improperly seated video card
Repeating beeps Memory error: Bad or improperly seated RAM
1 long, 3 short-Bad video RAM or video card not present
4 short Keyboard communication failure: Bad keyboard controller or keyboard

This is what the typical explanation is. To avoid assumption, i will need info on *********** board...thanks,

My monitor receives power, but doesn't receive signal from my computer. The green light blinks like there is something wrong and there is a faint beeping noise.

1st you separate you monitor from you Computer.
  • Now On your Monitor and check there is Faint beeping noise.
  • If there is no noise and after sometime the monitor light will change in orange colour.
  • It means there is no fault in monitor.
  • And also check Data cable of monitor is it right.
  • It means there is problem with you computer .
  • You Check the VGA Card.
  • I think there is problem with your VGA Card.

those beeps are actually codes telling you HEY something is wrong with me and that particular beep means there is something wrong with the display card so you should try to re seat your graphics card or maybe even check to make sure that you ram is good and in working condition

When I start up my Fujitsu Amilo Si1520, the fan starts working and nothing else happens -- screen remains blank.

Do you hear any kind of beep?
If yes, there is something wrong with your graphic adapter. If there is no beep, your MB is most probably dead

Problem with ibm thinkpad r40

The IBM beep code error 1 long 2 short beeps means there is a video card fault. Reseat your RAM because the video card uses some of the RAM. If it doesn't work then the video chip on the motherboard is faulty, the only way to fix is to replace the motherboard - this may not be a cost effective solution.
Connecting an external monitor to the laptop won't work because the video card also sends data to the video port.

Data is not sent to the monitor

The first thing to do is to pay attention for "beep" when your press the power button (or the reset button) to turn the computer on or reboot it. The beeps that a PC makes tells you a lot about the state of your computer. I couldn't quote for you the exact beeps to listen for, but your manual for your motherboard may tell you. Different beep pattersn tell you what is wrong with a computer.

I think for many common motherboards it is something like 4 beeps to tell you the graphics card has failed. Don't quote me, but that is at least along the lines of how it works if not the exact number.

If you're getting no display after starting your computer make sure you hear one beep. Then, listen for other activity. If you're computer has a floppy drive, listen for the 'floppy seek'. Otherwise, listen for hard drive activity. If it sounds as though there's activity along those lines but still no signal/display on the monitor perhaps check the cable between your PC and the monitor. Never hurts to just make sure the monitor is turned on of course.

If your monitor is on, and the cables are connected securely I wold restart the computer again and check for the beeps. I would be certain to count them and check the manual. Your graphics card may have failed if you hear abnormal beeps (more than one as one is usually the healthy indicator). If you hear no beeps then the PC is not even getting in as far as testing it's devices and could quite possibly be a motherboard failure.

BEEP ON START UP ,BLANK SCREEN

3 long beeps normally indicate defective memory or loose memory on DIMM so take out and insert it again or you need to replace with new memory module. Where as fast beeping indicates Graphics error and need to change the graphic card

If this dont fix please tell me

I have an HP Pavilion 6535 computer using Windows 98SE. It was fine but now when I turn it on, the power comes on (has start up sounds and cd drive light) but there is no green light on near the start...

Listen for the number of beeps, when you turn on the pc. The beep code should be able to tell you what is wrong. It's possible that the power supply or the video card is bad.
