Brother DCP 165C Compact Color Inkjet Multifunction Printer Logo

My printer Brother DCP 165C cannot print in black ink.

My printer is Brother DCP 165C. My problem is that my printer cannot print in black ink although the printer detected the black ink. It has no problem with the colored inks. Aside from this, the device reported that the ink level is always full (black and colored). This problem started since I upgraded to Windows 7. Previously with XP, I have no problem at all. I already downloaded and install the recent driver software from Brother website but still the problem exists. Any solution/suggestion to solve this is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Your black printhead is blocked.
The printhead is deep inside the printer and has to be taken out by the expert and cleaned with the help of 'steam' and hot water. This is because not using the printer for a long time. or using low grade refill inks.
Please select new cartridge only if you are inserting a new cartridge or fully refilled cartridge. Otherwise use old cartridge option. Brother printer has a mechanical sensor and not the electronic chip in the ink cartridges.
After inserting the old used cartridge if you choose 'new cart' option it will show the "Full" ink. You can still print from the exhausted ink cart after covering the sensor in the middle by a piece of paper in emergency.

If you encounter this message "close ink cover" just lift the cover a little bit or put a folded paper below the cover and wallah, problem solved... I hope this will help.

I have a brother DCP-165C and it is not printing black.

Hi,

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

How can i fix my printer which does not print those that are colored black. my printer is brother dcp-165c. whenever i print a document, the printed output does not show any black ink

there is a strong chance that either the black cartridge has run out and will need replacing or the cartridge itself is blocked. i would first check the manual on the printer for an option to clean the cartridges.

failing this within the software on your PC for the printer there should be an option to clean the cartridges. this should sort the problem out.

if not i would purchase a new cartridge for the printer and replace the one that is in it at present to see if this resolves it.

Printer wont print black.already replaced with new ink but still wont print black

did you take the tape off the new cartridge and is the print head burned out for the black? if you installed the diagnostic's on it then run it and see what it says, otherwise expect the print head to be cooked, however it is possible to get a bad ink cartridge try tapping it on your finger and see if ink comes out if it does not then the ink cartridge is dried out or no good, about %15 of print cartridges are bad on just about any brand printer some more than others.
