Intermittently a large black rectangular box will appear in the middle of the screen. How do I get rid of it so that it doesn't keep reappearing? I actually have a LC-195B146 model.
Hello. I went into the main menu. There wasn't a subtitle "closed caption" unless it was the "OPC" which is already off. Where else do I find the closed caption choice? Thanks so much!Hello.

Replace all electrolytic capacitors in the vertical section along with the vertical output IC & the low ohms fuseable resistor connected to the vcc of vert o/p IC leading back to the flyback, That will allow the TV to operate normally which should also restore sound believe it or not.
Kindly regards,

Check in main menu (set and box if using one) under closed captions--one of the settings is TEXT--black box will appear in middle of screen and certain channels--with the remote turn text off.
in the customer menu--find the closed caption settings---you will most likely find the set has been set to TEXT 1---with the remote select either CC1 or OFF---the black box was for text (books) and was not ever used much---usually someone engages it by accident
Try and turn off the closed captioning. I had the same problem and it turned out that the closed captioning was on t1 instead of OFF. Hope this helps!!!!
You could have a couple of different things causing your troubles. 1.) it could be a bad panel itself and that would need to be replaced $$$$ 2.) it could have a bad connection on the address assembly or the address board is bad. Can be repaired.$$ 3.) could be a digital Video board that feeds the adddress board gone bad. $$
When a black box appears on the screen it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. When the closed captions are set to CC1, it puts the words on the screen and when set to TEXT it puts a black box in the center of the screen. Go into the set's menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF.
