Normally this is not needed, if you plug in another video card, it gets recognized automatically and the integrated card becomes "secondary" or even unusable until you remove the added card.

No internet connection with lan on my dell dimension 4700 i up dated drivers but no luck. wy wireless works but no hard wired. i just installed win 7.

Kindly check Device Manager if the driver has been successfully installed. Check if there is a bang (exclamation mark) under Network. Make sure that the downloaded driver is compatible with Windows 7. If this has been done, 1. Go to BIOS and see if LAN has been disabled 2. check if there is a blinking light on the LAN port on your computer. If there isn't, then I guess you may need to change your LAN card.

Video Card upgrade for Dim 4700 to 1920 x 1200

go to dell's web site.
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/upgrades/en/segmenter?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~ck=mn

Fill in the requested information and they will give you the details of your computer, and recommended upgrades.

Does your current card meet your needs? The 24 inch should not need any thing special other than loading its drivers, and setting up the video. You will of course be using the "D"
15 connector on this monitor and a mating video cable. These have to be purchased on their own sometimes, so make sure one comes with your monitor.

No video

HI,
You can go into the BIOS , under onboard devices. Change the primary video controller to PCI.
refer to the following screen
http://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4700/sm/syssetup.htm#wp1052347

If the cards are not detected on the board. Then the problem could be of the PCIe slot .

Thanks

On board video...

The BIOS will most likely be set to auto detect, when you physically install the new card the BIOS should detect it and auto disable the onboard video.

Intergrated Graphics card

The intergrated graphics card "should" disable itself automatically when a video card is installed. You may also be able to manually disable it in the bios.
