Secure router After the initial setup of 2350 for 1 desktop and 1 laptop, how to change security to "secured" rather than "unsecured"? Can this be done without going back through entire setup? Thank you

yes. DSL is AT&T, router is the 2350. Am not too keen on WEP and WPA settings!

Yes you can, you need to log into the router via the default gateway (quite often 192.168.1.1 , or 192.168.0.1 type that in your internet explorer.

If you get into the router that way , then you should be able to change the wireless settings in there.

Sorry to be vaugue i'm not familiar with that router

Tony

I recently had to install a new hard drive for my laptop i did this over the phone with shaw when i was hooked back up to the internet my connection is unsecure if i reboot my d link will i be able to make...

Unless you changed the settings on the router, the "secure" connection should still be configured into the router,
and still should be available.

So, login to your router, and check your wireless-setup configuration, and, if necessary, reconfigure it to create a "secure" wireless network.

Need to secure router via laptop

Hi Thanks for your question
I think my tutorial may help you with this please click this link----> http://www.fixya.com/support/r4695161-change_wireless_network_password_forgott

Because of the fact that you can connect to your network without cable since it's unsecured you don't need to connect by cable. Skip this part and carry on with going to the routers settings site then to router wireless settings and password change. Remember to choose WPA method of security. Good Luck and please let me know if this was any helpful.

Laptop stopped connecting via wifi to home network.

The wireless settings in the Belkin has been setup with encryption.
You can restore the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and press the RESET button for 7 secs.
It is not wise to leave your wireless router unsecured, anyone can access your network and Internet connection and use up your allocated download limit. Once you exceed your download limit you could be slug with addition charges - this depends upon your contract with your ISP.

Change from 'unsecure' to 'secure' router

You don't need to install anything extra to secure the network. It's a matter of changing router settings. You set up the router through your web browser by going to "http://192.168.0.1" which accesses the device's setup screens.

There are several revisions of this product. Here is the URL for D-Link's selection page for the router:

http://support.dlink.com/products/revision.asp?productid=di-524

Click on the picture that shows the version you have, and then you'll be taken to the page for that version. You can download a manual or look through the FAQ's which will guide you through the process of setting up the security.

SECURITY ISSUE ON LAPTOP- UNSECURED ON NETWORK

You didn't specify what router you are using and what type of connection. I assume you are using wireless connection from your laptop. What you need to do is setup security on your router. I can't give you any specifics because I don't know the model of your router. Please read documentation and try to go to wireless security on your router and setup 64-bit WEP then specify 10-digit code. Save your configuration. Try to connect your laptop to the network. If it prompts specify the same WEP security then enter the same 10-digit code. It should work.

Good luck!
