How should I drain the Zanussi 1200 washing machine manually? The impeller/filter trap is so low I can't get a bowl under it.

It is spinning but not pumping out water

Drainage problems can be caused by:
a) Blocked Filter chamber
b) Blocked Sump
c) Blocked Drain Pipe
d) Failed Pump

You can check the sump and drain pipe are not blocked by disconnecting the drain pipe from the undersink trap or waste pipe and lowering to a bowl on the floor. The water should drain out into this bowl under gravity if there are no blockages. If this drains then you can should check the filter chamber if it is accessible on your washing machine (not all are). I would recommend you unplug the machine or take the fuse out of the switched socket before doing this. Drain the drum as above before doing this or you will get a gush of water coming out. You will usually have to remove a cover from the bottom of your machine to get to the filter chamber and twist it ant-clockwise to unscrew it. Check for any coins buttons etc trapped in there. If there is nothing there check the impeller will turn relatively easily by hand. If you still can't find the problem you might have a faield pump and I would recommend contacting an engineer.

ACCESSING THE DRAIN PUMP ON A FRONT LOADER

Today I will be showing you how to drain & clean your Drain Filter on a Front Loading Washing Machine.

Be sure to unplug your machine, before doing anything beyond this point.

THE DRAIN FILTER COMPARTMENT

Most washing machines have a already accessible compartment for your convenience at the front of the machine.

Common compartments can be found here:

jedemeyer1_22.jpg

Compartments can be opened by any small flat object, insert it at the top and flip it out downwards.

DRAINING THE WATER

Ready a small bowl, and position under the drain filter compartment. Position towels by the compartment

You now need to drain the water, there should be a small pipe with either a plastic cork / small tap which you can open. Let it drain all the water to the bowl:jedemeyer1_16.jpg

Not all Washing Machines have this pipe fitted, if that is your case, get some more towels, and a low dish for the next step.

CLEANING THE FILTER

Now the filter is the round compartment you can see, it is taken out by turning it anti-clockwise. Once loose, more water will be streaming out (a small amount, if drained adequately in the last step).

Once this filter is out, you can clean the filter cap, which should be out of the machine (In your hand, sir) - Wash it of under a running tap.

Insert your fingers into the Pump Compartment, and remove any gunk (coins, toothpicks, small stones etc), if you push your fingers in deep enough you will feel the drain pump's impeller, make sure this can be moved with no obstruction, by turning it with your fingertips.

Re-insert the filter, close the compartment and plug in your machine again.
It is recommended to clean your filter at least once a week, to avoid build-up that could harm your drain pump.

I hope you have been helped with this Tip.

Wixl123 does not drain after washing ?

Drainage problems can be caused by:
a) Blocked Filter chamber
b) Blocked Sump
c) Blocked Drain Pipe

d) Blocked waste pipe
e) Failed Pump

You can check the sump and drain pipe are not blocked by disconnecting the drain pipe from the undersink trap or waste pipe and lowering to a bowl on the floor. The water should drain out into this bowl under gravity if there are no blockages. Bear in mind if you have disconnected the drain pipe from an undersink pipe if youpour the drained water down the sink it will flood into your undersink cupboard. If this drains then you check the waste pipe or undersink trap is clear. You should also check the filter chamber if it is accessible on your washing machine (not all are). If you still can't find the problem you might have a faield pump and I would recommend contacting an enginee

Zanussi washing machine won't start E10, E40 & E50 at times

It was suggested that the pump had failed and taken out the programmer with it - expensive! Wife wouldn't wait, and bought new machine. Problem almost solved - anyone want an out of order washing machine?

Error message on washing machine E20

E20 is "A problem with water draining"
Solutions:
The drain hose may be squashed or kinked
the drain pump may be blocked
or possible your filter is totally blocked. Clean out the filter everything will work again. Put a large bowl under the filter as you unscrew it; a fair amount of water could be there.
Good luck. Please rate the solution if accepted, also do post comments in case of any doubts.

Zanussi FC1200W

have you checked the filter behind the flap on the front of the machine, this could be blocked. if the machine is full of water though you will have to manually drain it by putting the grey outlet hose into a bucket or a washing up bowl. you will also need one or two towels to place on the floor because there wil still be a bit of water left in the ipes even though the drum is empty.

hope this helps
