Brush won`t spin on brand new vacuum

Hi! Many of our vacuums include a brushroll shut-off feature that needs to be activated in order for the brushes to spin. The brushroll shut-off pedal is usually located on the right side of the cleaner on the hood. Your instruction manual will show you exactly where your brushroll shut off pedal/button is located if your vacuum has this feature. Also, on many models the brushes will not spin when locked in the upright position. The handle must be reclined for the brushes to spin. Hope this helps!

Brush won't spin when carpet cleaner is running

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll bearing might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearing. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.

If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning the cogged belt might be broken, stretched out too much, or might have fallen off. Check the belt and replace as needed.

I have a Eureka 5902AVZ and the brushroll does not work. when i remove the belt, which is not torn nor worn out, the motor spins perfectly fine. Though when i put the brushroll back into place, it shows...

Hi and welcome to Fixya. I am Kelly.

You have correctly identified the problem as the brush roll itself.

There is a bearing under each end cap of the brush roll. You can gain access to the bearings usually by gripping the browah roll end caps and rotate the caps in opposing but loosening (ccw rt / cw left) directions.

Many times I have found that there is just a mass of hair under the end cap that functions like a brake. Clean it up really well on under BOTH end caps.

Do a spin test by putting the end caps back on (Hold it horizontal) and rotating the brush roll with your thumbs. It should spin freely.

If it feels like there is still friction then your probably going to have to take the brush roll with you down to the nearest vacuum cleaner repair / supply shop and get 2 new bearings. Most shops will install the NEW bearings for you if you have the brush roll in hand. It is a much cheaper fix than the brush roll itself.

(buy a new belt too!)

Take care

Kelly

How to put a Kirby Vacuum belt back on New belt seems too short

To put on a kirby belt all you need to do is put on the belt on the brushroll, put the brushroll into the housing making sure the marks on the end of the brushroll are the same. Take the spin dial in the front and "hook" the belt till the dial reads off. Put the head back on the machine and spin the dial to "on".

The suction only works when upright, when in the recline position there is no suction and it starts to smoke

you probably have suction just no aggitation. those units use a clutch assy with two belts unfortunately when the belts fail you have to replace the whole assy just like everything else on the dysons. check your brushroll for rotation and for hair wrapped around it. if the brushroll doesnt spin easily it will cause your belts to fail

Green light on power nozzle of Kirby vacuum, Model G7D

The green light is just to inform you that the brushroll is spinning. there is a magnet on the brushroll that makes the green light come on every time it rotates. also why it looks like the light flickers because the magnet only makes contact once per rotation of your brushroll. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just need to know how to change the belt on my vacuum cleaner

Step 1: Lower handle to floor to change belt
Step 2: Remove the two screws from the top hood on the foot
Step 3: Lift hood to remove
Step 4: Lift right end of brushroll (the belt end)
Step 5: Remove and discard belt.
Step 6: Place new belt around motor shaft.
Step 7: Place new belt around brushroll pulley.
Step 8: Align left end cap with base. Push end cap securely into
place. Make sure the square on the brushroll cap is in
place
Step 9: Pull right side of brushroll to stretch belt. Secure right
end cap into base.
IMPORTANT
Step 10: Rotate brushroll by hand several full rotations to properly
position belt.
Step 11: Place hood back on cleaner. Replace and tighten
two screws.
Step 12: Return vacuum to upright position.

How do i put a new belt in kirby vacuum ultimate G

You'll want to rotate the front plastic piece 270 degrees until the red triangle on the plastic piece lines up with the red triangle on the top of the nozzle. Then, rotate the nozzle release (located under the headlight assembly) until the nozzle can pull free of the main vacuum body.

Rotate the front plastic piece back to its original position and flip the nozzle upside down. There will be two clips which will rotate to release the baseplate. After removing the baseplate you should be able to remove the brushroll and take the belt off.

Put the new belt onto the brushroll, and replace the brushroll in the nozzle, making sure that the colored dot on each bearing end is the same on both sides to ensure that the brushroll sits level. then rotate the plastic front cover again, watching to make sure that the hook inside grabs the belt and pulls it upward.

Replace the baseplate, then turn the nozzle back upright and replace it on the front of the vacuum by setting it onto the axle on the front of the machine and then tilting the top of the nozzle back into place and turning the nozzle release back to lock the nozzle into place.

Rotate the plastic front piece back to its original position, and your belt should be fully installed.

Eureka Altima is smoking!
Posted by saysay on May 18, 2008
Help! My vacuum is smoking. It won’t work anymore and starts to smoke as soon as it gets turned on.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model #2996AVS – it is probably doing 2 things, it could be the belt and or brushroll and the easiest ay to check is to remove the belt and see if the motor smokes, if the motor is fine then buy a new belt and check the brushroll to see if the brushroll spins freely, there are bearings in the brushroll and thread and hair get bound up in the ends and needs to be cleaned out. So #1, check the belt – no smoke from the motor then check the brushroll to see if it spins freely then changed the belt. If the motor smokes check your purchase date it may still be under the one year factory warranty from the dop. #2. Either clean or replace the brushroll and belt. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
