Sounds like you may have to load the drivers for it first. Did you get a setup CD with it? If not, check manufacturers site for drivers suitable for your operating system then load onto your system reboot and next time you plug it in it should work. Hope this helps!

How to Download Music to a Memory Card?

Downloading music onto memory cards allows you to conveniently transport and store your digital audio. Some personal computers come equipped with built-in memory card readers. However, external devices still provide download capability for those who do not own memory card-ready computers. In either case, the drag and drop process allows you to store your favorite music onto memory cards.
Instructions
  1. Insert the memory card into an external memory card reader or device associated with the memory card, such as a PDA.
  2. Connect the external memory card reader or device to your computer using a USB cable. Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the external memory card reader or device. Insert the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on the computer.
  3. Wait for the computer to recognize the external memory card reader or device. You will access the external memory card reader or device as if it were a drive in your file manager. Skip Steps 1 through 3 and insert the memory card directly into your computer's built-in memory card reader if applicable.
  4. Open the file icon for the memory card reader or device to view its file contents as a folder.
  5. Open the folder containing the digital audio file you wish to download to the memory card.
  6. Drag and drop your desired digital audio file into the memory card reader or device's open file folder.

How to Format A Memory Card Using A Computer

If you are having problems where your camera or other device will not format or recognise your memory card, this is often because the card has become corrupted or the device is an older type and does not recognise the file system of the card.

You should always format your card with your camera or device (not your computer) every time you need to do this. This prevents the possibility of data errors and corruption.

However, if your device is refusing to format or will not recognise the card you can often resolve this by getting your computer to format it for you.

This often helps the camera or device recognise the card and make it functional again. If a format on your PC fails and the card is still not recognised then the card is either faulty or in the case of a camera exceeds your cameras max capability. In this case you will have to use a new card or one with a lower memory capacity.

If you have a card reader on your PC this is the easiest way to access the card with the computer. If not, a multi card reader is a cheap and useful device to have.

Be aware that formatting the card erases all information and or photos stored on it.

To format the card with your PC do the following:

1) Insert the card into the card reader.

2) Go to 'Start' - 'My Computer' and then find the card icon which will show as 'SD Card Drive' or 'Compact Flash Drive' or whatever card type you are using.

3) Right click on the relevant card icon. you will be presented with a list of options. Go down to Format and select this option. Now select a File system type.

PLEASE NOTE: Select FAT32 for 4GB or higher capacities. FAT for 2GB or lower capacities

4) Click start to begin the format process.

5) When the process is complete, take the memory card out and insert it into your device. If the procedure was successful the device should recognise it and it should work.

Note: Old cameras
Many previous old cameras and portable devices do not work if the card is formatted as FAT32 or NTFS file system. One of the following errors may occur if your device does not support FAT32 or NTFS:
- Error message asking to re-format the flash card.
- Error message that the flash card is not formatted.

To resolve the above error, backup your data and reformat your memory card in FAT file system

Hope this Tip has helped. If so please take a moment to indicate this using the Yes/No buttons below.

How can i format my memory stick in hp ipaq 6915

If you can remove the memory stick and you have a multi-card reader, then you can use a PC to format the memory stick. If you don't have a multi-card reader, you can buy one from [here].
  1. Insert the reader into a free USB port and wait for your PC to recognise it.
  2. If given the option, choose to view the folder, otherwise double click My Computer.
  3. Right click the icon that represents the memory stick (depending on your setup this may be labelled as drive E, F or G).
  4. Choose the Format option.
  5. A new window will appear, choose Quick Format and your memory stick will be formatted.
WARNING! This will wipe the entire contents of your memory stick, so please remember to take a backup first.

Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Card reader

Which Windows version are you using 98, ME, XP or Vista?
Try pluging the card reader into another computer (xp or Vista) and if you get the same error message, the card reader could be faulty.
