How to replace a R1 drum cartridge on a xerox 7545?

The entire 57 series from Xerox is one of the friendliest units for operators there are on today's market. To replace the drum module you simply need to unlock and drop the tray which is attached to it below the drum unit, then swing the locking arm to the unlock position and remove the old drum. All the drum replacement kits come with an instructional showing you how to remove the shipping material from the new drum and then simply replace drum into the copier and return locking arm and relock the lower tray to bottom of drum frame and shut the door. It's that easy.

ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND: NEVER, and I mean NEVER touch your fingers or hands to the drum surface. The natural oils in your skin can cause damage to the drum surface. Be very careful when installing the drum to ensure that nothing touches the actual drum surface.

SECOND WARNING: Drums are LIGHT SENSITIVE! NEVER leave a drum exposed to office light or any other light source for more than 5 minutes. If you need to stop your replacement procedure, make sure you cover the drum with a dark black garbage bag or some other source that can completely stop the light from reaching the drum.

did you clear the required counters and run required procedures? If not the machine still thinks it has a old drum because counter was not cleared only way copier will know it has a new drum

Our fax machine says "change drum soon" even though we changed it yesterday. What is causing this? Thanks

When you installed the new drum, there is a sheet in the box that tells you how to reset the drum life counter. Did you perform this procedure when you installed the drum?
If you don't have it just open the front cover and press options then select 1 for drum replacement.
Good Luck and thank you for using Fixya.

My Drum light has come on and stays on during my printing. Is the drum going bad?

This means your drum unit is coming due for replacement. If your print quality is still good I would just reset the drum light by this procedure.
Open front cover. Hold down button located under LED's until all LED's are lit. Release button and make sure drum LED is off, then close cover.

I have a Canon i865 printer which was printing stripey. I cleaned the print head but then it didn't want to work at all. I bought a new print head but it's not working at all still. Plug in, get 10 amber/...

The stripes on prints is usually caused by some residual particles on the drum which indicates that the drum is not properly cleaned. Try cleaning the drum(Be careful not to damage the drum). I have psted the link which guides you through the drum cleaning procedure below. Follow it carefully and there should be no problems.

If it doesn't work may be its time for a replacement drum. Contact canon for a replacement
