My tv pictur blinks on and off for about an hour and then stays on almost like the tube is heating up or something. Is this a capacitor or tube problem?

Turn on the TV, red light stays on, picture goes blank after a second.

I have the same problem. Factory reset did not help (hold Vol-minus on set and menu on remote five seconds, then unplug). Can there be something in service mode that would help?

It seems to be a problem to the power supply unit. I would suggest you have a look at the circuit board and look for capacitors that could have a popped up head. If you notice any, replacing it would solve your problem. I had the exact issue with my tv and fixed it that way. If you have any question please do not hesitate to ask, good luck.

My 52" rear projectionT.V. Is about ten years old and for the past year the picture takes a while to appear. Sometimes the picture will blink on and off for hours, while other times the picture will only...

You generally have a weak capacitor in the power supply, that will delay a startup! Second to these are poor grounds on any and all ICs attached to heat sinks. A heat sink is a large metal piece mounted on the TV board. It is a cooling fin to reduce heat on the IC. The pins are underneath these, and will have cracked rings around them. These of course reduce voltage and a promote a slow startup. Please check all capacitors with a capacitor checker and look closely underneath the TV board for bad solder grounds and resolder!

My Sony Trinitron only turn on when After 5 and up hours..

1. Your TV has a weak picture tube, the beam current detection circuit muted the video, you may rejuvenate the CRT, or turn up screen control (located on the fly back transformer) a little it may help.
2. Other thing is that to check out is there any dry-out electrolytic capacitors in the main power supply circuit.

Red standby light light blinking

The 5 blinks can indicate a picture tube starting to fail. Carefully open up the back and look for the flyback transformer. It will be the part with the large red wire coming out the top that goes to the side of the picture tube. There should be 2 controls on the flyback, screen and focus. Turn the screen control slightly clockwise. If the set stays on, the picture tube is starting to fail and you have bought yourself time to find a replacement. If that fails, then you will need to investigate other possibilities that will involve soldering. Let me know if you need to do that.

The 6 blinks indicate no horiszontal. This can be as simple as a couple of bad capacitors or the "jungle" IC. If you can solder, please post another question with the model and a brief description indicating that you can work in the set and we'll continue to track this down.

Thanks,
Dan

Tv won't turn on

The 4 blinks indicate no vertical pulse. Look for a small flat IC with about 12 pins or so attached to a heat sink. It should be marked LA7837 or something close. Try resoldering the pins on that first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the IC. That should give you a picture. Report back here if the picture is not correct and describe it. There may be capacitors that need to be replaced in the same circuit.

Sony KV-35S66 Audio ok but no Video

Is your picture somewhat weak ? This could be a problem with the picture tube . One thing you can try is to turn the screen control up just alittle at a time to see if the picture comes in . Once it does turn off and back on to see it it comes back on again . It might take 10 to 20 seconds but if it does your picture tube is weak . The control is on the flyback transformer it is the bottom control . Or it may be on the crt board on the picture tube . One thing to check once the picture comes is the video input . If you go to this mode and see faint white lines might want to try to turn the control down a little more to see if you can get them out and the picture stays on , if not thats how going to have to watch it . These picture tubes are expensive $500.00 to 700.00 depending on which one you have . One possible other thing if you tell me the picture was a great picture almost like brand new check the horizontal section for a loose connection as this will cause this problem . Don't get shocked and be carefull , Good luck
